(UPDATE) EVANGELIST Bro. Eddie Villanueva on Tuesday cried foul over the issuance of an arrest warrant, alleging it was orchestrated by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for his continued refusal to support her.

Villanueva refused to pay the 40,000-peso bail set by a Mandaluyong court. He instead dared the government to arrest him, saying this would set off more damaging revelations against the administration.

“I don’t want to recognize this railroaded judicial process,” he told reporters. “I might as well be imprisoned so I could expose and denounce this tyrannical and illegitimate regime which fiddles with the justice system.”The arrest warrant sprang from an estafa (fraud) case filed against Villanueva’s Zoe TV by businessman Benito Araneta over a botched joint venture into the television station.
