watched the movie in its first screening time. so good =) di lang ko mugive away ug spoiler sa.
Two hours but gikulangan rako, maybe 'cz have read the book.
Read the book, watched the movie.
Life of Pi : 8/10
Spoiler alert.
Pros:
> Eye candy jud siya. The visuals are amazing. The shipwreck scene was probably the best: everything about it looked so real. Even I had a hard time figuring out whether the tiger, Richard Parker, was animated or not. Same goes for all the other animals too.
> The movie stuck really close to the original story.
> Watching it in 3D is like putting honey on your pancakes. It's already good but you'll enjoy it better that way.
Cons:
> (SM Cinema is responsible for this one.) Echo. English with an Indian accent is already hard to listen to, samot na nga ang speakers sa SM mu echo pa jud voice. Any body who watched in Ayala have the same experience?
> There are scenes that I believe didn't deserve a flashback. And there are scenes that I believe deserved a flashback (or at least deserved to be acted out) instead of being narrated by Pi himself.
> As with almost every book-to-movie scenario, there is that problem where you can't always listen in to the main character's thoughts. Much of the book's awesomeness was in Pi's thoughts while he was out at sea, alone. This is not experienced in the movie, and will almost always be the reason why book-based movies don't do justice to their book counterparts.
