A640 or A710 IS...
thanks for the correction mark.
I forgot, canon uses CMOS sensor for their DLSRs which are more energy efficient & cheaper to manufacture than CCDs.
go for A630/640 or A700/710 IS. or you may also consider the S3 IS.
Just drop by mark's store. im sure he can explain more personally & help you decide. & maybe he'll let you try these cameras.
goodluck...
I have checked again the dpreview site... i noticed that A640 differ less with A460. How important is the manual controls? I am sorry if i ask too many questions guys.... I'm new to this thing... i need some enlightenment
@mark- i will drop by at ur store sometime soon...
if you want to do real photography...creative photography...you will want manual control...
without manual control, its like your letting the camera do much of the thinking for you...
coz in essence its the camera thats automatically select the settings for you...
i personally shoot manual setting 98% of the time. so yes its very very important if you want to do more than just p&s type of photography.

@Capoieira Chic: The manual controls basically is the one you want to use when you "promote" your camera to SLR. Don't worry about asking too many questions. That's one step of learning and I'm sure people here are willing to help you out. Plus, that's what the forums are all about, asking questions and sharing stuff...
OT: ok lang bro! it is an often used analogy in stating that: whatever your camera is (pana), the resulting images will always depend on the skill/creativity of the photographer (indian). your camera may have its own share of limitations, but it's up to the photographer to focus instead on its strengths in order to come up with interesting images.Originally Posted by kolz

btw, nice images you've got there bro (sa digital photography thread)....and models, too! hehehe!
Ohh.. now i know... Thank you so much!
So, is A640 has good manual controls? As i have checked the latest price of Mark's thread.. i can only afford the A640 series.. hehehehe
That's good. Check the A710 IS sad, you might be interested in the Image Stabilizer rather than the A640's high megapixel.
Just like to add.
Get an SLR Thats it !!!
... Small cameras are being overtaken by Cellfons.
