.. to lend out a Billion dollars to Europe ??! What will one billion USD do to Europe ?? It's just a bunch of coins for them, but for our country, it would be a very big help like building schools and hospitals and anything that would help the filipino people.
Sir, one billion dollars in Europe can partly save the current deficit experienced by Greece and may help prevent another Global Depression. Our economy go in part with the global economy, so one billion dollars can actually help us in the end.

.. we are CURRENTLY-RIGHT NOW-TODAY... if that ain't clearer then i don't what is, again, RIGHT NOW, the philippine people are in need of good infrastructure both in the health and education sectors.

.. it's better to use that funds NOW to help the filipinos, than to hope that it will do good in the future .... is that so hard to understand ??
actually it isn't.. but is it hard to understand that the idiosyncracy of those who can't think of the future and only think of band aid solutions.. do you really think that the 1 billion USD can help us right now? with all the corruption around us? we don't even have a stable welfare system to invest in. Your way of thinking may do us temporary good, but we've been doing it for a long time. We've spent and spent and spent for the national infrastructures, health and education. We even had an economist leading us for 9 years, and she never thought of this one. Maybe, i'm just saying maybe we can try new things out.

yes correct. why would we stay on something that is not working for how many years now.. and yes it is indeed a risky business to try new things but atleast we are trying and its better than not doing anything at all.

actually, corporations uses billions of dollars for market research and development. If you want to open someone's eyes, try yours as using this 1 billion USD for national improvement would result to at least 20% of it going to political pay-outs. Remember the fly-overs here in Cebu, guess how much the proponents earn from that project?

Here's a saying that I've heard, maybe it can enlighten you. "Don't let the blind lead the blind"

actually, when Jobs was fired from Apple. I would have given him 100k to "develop" Apple and have him give me some shares of his company.

If it doesn't get any clearer than this then what the heck.
Its getting late, time for bed. I've had my fun.

If we are able to allot 1B from the reserves, why not put that into something useful here? we have a what? something $1Trillion+ budget? $1B to any sector will help! Di man ta pareha sa more developed countries nga naay room maka-loan because their infrastructures are generally and relatively well. Like what ian_1983 said, you guys are comparing two economic standards. If you don't consider our unemployment rate, sharply increasing poverty rate, and relatively deteriorating infrastructure as an "emergency" then goodluck.

"Help yourself, before assisting others"--it's very fundamental.
ok lets say ato nang gamiton ang $1B reserves. i invest nato og infrustructures like fly overs, schools, og uban pa. ang materials para construction asa man na gikan? sa china? so part sa atong reserves ma punta sa china. ang equipment gamiton pag construct most gikan sa china gihapon so ma punta na pod lain part sa china. part sa kwarta kay i sweldo sa mga taw so naa pa diri ni circulate ang kwarta. pero ang pamaliton man pod sa mga taw kay gikan man pod sa china so naa na pod ma punta nga bahin padung sa china. ang resulta ana kay maybe half anang $1B kay ma punta nuun sa china. imbis mo lig on atong economy kay dako2x tag reserves mas mo hinay hinuon. unless siguro naa tay ma kita an nga maayo nga butangan og investment unya gamay og chance nga mo fail like maka discover og oil reserves, gold og minerals, mao nay dapat gamitan nato anang atong reserve nga kwarta kay sure profit na. imo nang i tukod og schools then di gihapon mo improve ang quality sa education kay corrupt ang mga officials resulta ana kay failed investment. samot tag ka pobre ana. naa raba gyud chance nga naay economic crisis nga ma hitabo unya if ma apektohan ta unya wala na tay reserves tungod sa failed investments, pungko nalang ta sa daplin ani?

ahahaha.. isn't it clear that the $1B was lend to Europe dude? again, E-U-R-O-P-E dude. what's with the 'fellow cebuano or pinoy' thing? it's the lamest 'lihay' after getting pawned by the Steve Jobs analogy.

but seriously, if Henry Sy or John Gokongwei will have financial trouble, I will not have second thoughts on lending them my 100K. lol
