The latest PlayStation Store Update lists the prices for those Dead Space 3 microtransactions you’re all grumbling about—and they ain’t cheap.

The real kicker is the “Online Pass,” which is what anyone who buys Dead Space 3 will need to purchase as well if they want to play the co-op online.

Before you cry foul, remember: these are totally optional. All of these resources can be found the good ol’ fashioned way: in the game. And none of this should really come as a surprise—EA has made it pretty clear they intend to incorporate microtransactions into all their titles. Dead Space 3 is just the latest addition to a growing roster of games that feature microtransactions, but aren’t dependent on them. And if anyone wants to throw down $5 for a suit and a gun, well that’s on them.

Well, it's not only EA doing this but Activision ($49.95 BO2 Season Pass anyone?), Take 2 Interactive ($29.95 BL2 Season Pass anyone?), Sega (Just Cause DLC made kids and established a new species).. and pretty much any major dev/publishing house is doing it. It's the new way of earning more money: DLC.

All this talk about EA being the most evil company of all is just folks jumping on the bandwagon of hate and hype. If they were all so self-righteous, they'd quit games and start getting it on on Miniclip and Friv (hey, at least these games live up to what they're worth, right?).
