a few months ago (before the allegations), the fruits from sacrifice and economic reforms were reaped. experts and economic analyst believed that the said reforms have gained ground. in fact, the country's credit rating improved to a positive one from a negative. also, peso reach to as high as P52 to a dollar. if not for the ceaseless political mockery, mind-conditioning and hakot activities of the opposition's camp, our economy wouldn't be affected. what they're doing is creating an impression that the country's political stability is hopeless and it's citizens are so divided. our ship is not moving forward. we're only moving in circles. how can we get off the shore of progress if the situation continues and worsen?
if we all support GMA, if not, adhere to legal means to clarify the issues involving her, everybody's a winner. what we need now is economic recovery. toppling her from the post thru forceful means is not the solution. will it put food on our table? will it decrease the price of fuel or the basic goods? if she continues to lead our nation, I believe she'll do everything in her power to solve, if not lessen the burden of our fellow kababayan, especially the less fortunate.
one question my_pet... i've been asking you guys this one, but still you guys havent answer it..
firstly..
the rallyist are always there.. we cant stop that..
what are they shouting about?? --->GLORIA to resignwhy?? --->GLORIAGATE SCANDAL
who is involved in the GLORIAGATE scandal![]()
what did he/she do![]()
of course the opposition would also back this action up... why?? political reasons maybe, but still GLORIAGATE scandal..
diba there are political parties who were against the opposition before(ERAP TIME) that are now standing side by side with the opposition.. why? coz they have the same reason why they are doing this... what reason---->GLORIAGATE scandal..
you cant blame them from going to the streets and wanting her to resign.... coz they feel they've been cheated.. or should i say, she cheated on them.
so whose fault is it![]()
@Empress_Of_Drac,

>> Kinsa man ato ipuli nga si GMA ra man ang makapa-lambo sa atong nasud.

*BIGGER FINANCIAL TURMOIL SEEN IF GMA STAYS DEFIANT*
President Arroyo’s defiant stance may lose her support from the international finance capital and may result in intensified political crisis and financial turmoil, according to independent think-tank IBON Foundation.
“Increasing defiance on the part of Mrs. Arroyo will only further polarize the country, intensify political instability and make the stable and improving outlook so favored by financial markets ever more distant,” says IBON senior researcher Sonny Africa.
He points out that the country remains critically dependent on portfolio investment inflows or so-called “hot money” and on foreign borrowings. However, capital flight may result if Arroyo refuses to step down despite mounting calls for her to relinquish power.
“Financial markets are starting to realize that the stability on which their profits rely is increasingly unlikely under an Arroyo administration-- and this portends a financial storm if President Arroyo does not step down,” Africa says.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has already reported that net portfolio investment inflows in June hit $31 million, 43% lower than the $54.2 million recorded a year ago. The drop was attributed to the uncertain political climate resulting from Arroyo’s alleged involvement in election fraud.
Africa points out that despite government propaganda, debt servicing and budget deficits remain alarmingly high, making the fiscal sector vulnerable to a ratings downgrade. This could spill over into a more generalized economy-wide financial crisis.
The consolidated public sector deficit, which includes the deficits of the national government (NG), local government units, and government-owned and controlled corporations, grew to P56.6 billion in the first quarter of 2005, 10% more than in the same period last year. Total NG debt payments of P217.4 billion for the first four months of
2005 also grew 20% from last year, and debt servicing for the whole of 2005 may consume as much as 94% of total public revenues.
“If foreign lending to the government becomes prohibitively expensive, a destructive spiral of high interest rates, involuntary debt defaults and more drastic austerity measures will ensure. This problem will cascade across the economy with private sector borrowers also finding their external financial taps running dry,” Africa says.
He adds that this would result in a foreign exchange shortage that would paralyze the country’s import-dependent economy, resulting in an economic slowdown, unaffordable imports, retrenchments and closures, and drastic currency devaluations.
“Although President Arroyo apparently hopes to ride out the storm, it seems more likely that her belligerence will result in a bigger and more severe financial and economic storm of her own making,” says Africa. (end)
