guyz...we are looking at possible 2008 when it happens...by then nokia and s.e. and samsung and moto will come up with an iPhone killer
hehehe...ambot oi im just not sold to this over hyped several years in the making iphone...on paper it just doesnt stand out. the only thing that stands out is the price...

i mean come on 3g has more uses that just video call...its the NOW technology. EDGE was so 3 years ago!
handling...i dunno maybe it makes up for it...time will tell...

But if you look at what happened to the Ipod..... No one has ever come up with an ipod killer.....

So it remains to be seen if there will ever be an Iphone killer.....

ipod is nothing if it wasnt for itunes...its ipod+itunes that made ipod what it is today.

as a phone, iphone i dont think is lightyears ahead...as pointed out its not even 3G.
so dont turn it around coz its apple thats playing catchup with its iphone...

when i say iphone killer, i am pointing out the target market segment ment to be captured by iphone...
with what the "big 3" already offer in todays market (mind you 2008...thats a long wait my friend)
its not far off to consider that other manufactures can package something that outshines the iphone in every spec.even before the iphone hits our shores (thus the term iphone killer thiner,lighter,as good a screen, better cam, bigger capacity, etc. etc. etc.

last years n91 has 8gb.
last years P990 has very sharp lcd touch screen, sure they can make it even better, as good as whats being used by iphone.
remember iphone is manufactured by Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision with factories in china...same company that nokia outsources.
APPLE only gives bout 5% of hon hai's total revenue. 5 percent only!
also dont rule out dopod and hpc as well. they are considerably new in the game but they are gaining good ground as well.

i think iphone will just be another player in the game. seeing it as a major player in the mobile phone market as a whole in the next year or two?
i STRONGLY doubt it...its price range is just too high. its playing with a small nitch market.
but for the higher end pda type market, im sure they will make a dent...a big dent? 12 million units is expected...hmmm, if it flops, its big loss for APPLE.
if it clicks, then its a big YES!

its very possible the performance/handling may be better than what other are offering with its OSx but WE JUST DONT KNOW YET...
you cant rule out the fact that this is a new field for them. things might go right. or it may not go as well as everyone hopes.
for now you can hope all you want but till iphone is actually in the market and we can actually test and use it...time will only tell
but with 12million units contract, apple cant afford to make a mistake here. so im optimistic in its performace!
but never forget, not all apples new products are as successful as the ipod+itunes introduction. in fact, none of them are...

iphone may make dent for the likes of XDA/Pseries/dopod market but not the rest of the big 3's market...
as it is today, on paper, iphone isnt that impressive to me
come on, whats new, phone+mp3+internet...same thing my phone can do years ago.
so bottomline, its APPLE thats playing catchup in the mobile phone industry after the big flop of their moto+ipod/itunes attempt.

look at the browser..... its a full web browser.... not some miniature browser who can't show complete webpages as seen with nokia, samsung, motorola, sony ericsson.....

Iphone + User interface.... that is why its lightyears ahead..... 3G is not light years.....

That convinced apple that they have to make a phone by themselves instead of relying from an established mobile phone player..... don't blame apple on the rokr.... it wasn't what they wanted......

my more than 2 years old 9500 does have full web browser with 640 wide resolution and email+blackberry capabilities
note that websites are originally designed for 640x480 resolution or higher. iphone has to sqeeze the 640 width to 480 to fit into its screen.

P990/n80 are 3g and have full html browser and email capabilities
sa n80 is actually an open source version very similar to safari with embed API browser management + download manager which handles HTML 4.01, CSS 1 and 2, RSS (2.0), JavaScript 1.5 as well as VPN connections and encryption modes when i say safari like as in minimaps and all...

for the touchscreen, yes its nice as ive mentioned before but you cant expect that only iphone can have that good a screen.
as i pointed out the manufacturerof the iphone also makes nokia's and other brands so dont count everyone else out

yes ive seen the demo...but demo on our monitors are just demo. having it and using it everyday in real life, thats the real test which again, ONLY TIME WILL TELL! dont take it personally zirv...be realistic...APPLE doesnt rule the world nor is it better than everyone else in everything it does...

google maps?? diba nauna man ang demo sa n95 showing off google maps capability?

if windows isnt the best basis for a phone, many will agree and some will disagree...but why are you so sure that OSx is?? have you actually used OSx phone? whats your basis....be realistic...up to this point only TIME WILL TELL...

bottomline, nothing super special...nothing new...nothing what phones today can't do...its just a new gsm phone with a pretty screen...thats all it is to me...

oh i forgot to comment on the widgets...for many years i have apps on my phone with weather updates, forex, etc. what can these widgets do that java/sis/ppc apps cant do...
even widgets on apple computers look just like widgets you can download for free from yahoo...come on...be realistic...its nothing new...

simplicity..... that is what the iphone brings.... you don't need to figure it out and read the manual..... you will let the fingers do it....


OSX....... apple saw what happened to motorola rokr...... they tried using other OS............. in the end they went back to OSX....... how many times have you experience a microsoft phone crash.....

well OS X has a much better record than Windows XP.....

Iphone is a mobile device that gives you functions you like in a pc or laptop

Web browsing......... I have never seen a phone which browses like my laptop
email...... i have never seen in a phone an email client just like my laptop
Widgets..... I have never seen a phone with a yahoo widget like my yahoo messenger in my laptop
google maps..... the same thing......

And other softwares that will be incorporated once it will be out

while its true you can have an mp3+phone+internet years ago....

its like saying 10 years ago i had a 56k internet connection.... and the internet was so simple

now i have broadband..... i can see multimedia and better graphics.....

that is the difference..... iphone brings the REAL internet.... not some crappy internet with difficult navigation system......

you can't just put the same os and expect the same efficnecy on a mobile...it may not be that seemless...until i see it, i wont bet my life on it!
and because im happy with what im using (it works for me) plus i dont like using touch screen, i like my tackle feel when i press my keys...so why force me...if you dont like spicy food, i happen to like spicy food. you wont see me forcing anyone to like spicy food.

My most valid concern is I've heard that the network carrier Jobs' chose is Verizon, so this must mean that the iphone is not a GSM phone...which means most, if not all pinoy networks wont work (because almost all mobiles in pinas uses sim cards) unless Steve Jobs' Asian version (200 will have this feature then don't get your hopes up for any Globe or Smart iphones.

Why I consider it IMPORTANT and the MAJOR PLAYERS didn't bother including it.....

3G means faster DATA..... WIDGET requires constant DATA....

what is the use of that 3G..... video calls? DUH!!! who needs video calls....

WIDGET is important for NEWS(Headlines, Technology, Sports), WEATHER(travellers will care about the weather), BUSINESS( price of OIL, STOCKS, etc),......

I prefer getting business news on the go..... even when i don't have a laptop.... Its better to get NEWS FEEDS.....

Yahoo has tied up with REUTERS, FORBES, BUSINESSWEEK, FINANCIAL TIMES, ASSOCIATED PRESS..... MAJOR News organizations.....

you can creat any java/sis/ppc apps you like..... if you DON't have access to the NEWS SERVICE.... what the use.....

That is why APPLE choose YAHOO..... because it has already made EXTENSIVE DEALS with NEWS ORGANIZATIONS....

So why make 100 java/sis/ppc apps for each webpage............. when YAHOO has ALL OF THE MAJOR news SERVICE....

if you are a FAN of PARIS Hilton..... you can even make a WIDGET on all news of PARIS Hilton....
