also, gps is useless if the thief put your car inside a building.

physical punishment gyud for me is very effective.

for carjacking, butang ka ug button tapad sa clutch that would notify you are being car jacked. this would then Power up your GPS system (hidden at the most secure part of your vehicle) it is possible to trace you since you are still on the go. the authorities can track your last transmissions and whereabouts.

for carnapping, maybe develop a watch or a device that you may always take with you. so the CAR would check every 30mins or less while it is 'running' or on ignition. if the car detects that no device is in proximity (within the area of the car), it may activate again the gps system, plus the feature to flame out the engines... the next thing it would be is, dili na sya moandar NOT unless the owner is in proximity.

Here's things thats i should consider:

1) How to activate?
It should have a 2 modes of activation
- Automatic activation, triggers the device when the vehicle is in park (carnapping)
- Remote activation, sort of fail safe control, this is effective if you are forced out of the vehicle (carjacking)

and should use the technology readily available (SMS), this can work in conjunction with regular car alarm system

2) When it activate what should it do?, what are the most cost-effective/tamper proof way to stop/disable a vehicle?
For Car:
Here are several ways that i could think it should have
- Alarm system that doesnt goes off (can only be turned off by controller of the owner), surely no stupid carjacker/carnapper want to drive a car where the alarm system is activated, that attract to much attention.
- A kill switch that kills all electrical power to start the car, cutting it from the source (batter) would be much better so it cant be worked-around!

For Motor Cycle:
This will be pretty tricky since the engine can be access. Here are several ways that i could think it should have similar to a car except it should be tamper proof

3) When the security triggers how will i retrieve the vehicle?
GPS or GPRS is a good way, but i still prefer GPS!

Keep it simple!!, utilize microcontroller para small ra siya!!

And btw, a friend back at college have this kind of project, i help her with the thesis, design and the concepts (i excel in creative thinking meaning latagaw hehehehe)... do wala lang siya na assemble kutob rami sa documentation ug bread board, i think the thesis naa sa UCLM if wala to nawala!!, car to ang amo plano i test!!
