I mostly agree with you , but I'm not sure about the Swiss example. Nazi Germany did not need to strike Switzerland as the Swiss capitulated and became the bankers of the Nazi war machine. Low crime in modern Switzerland can also be attributed to the favorable social / economic situation. Poverty tends to breed crime, that is the reality for us. The threat here is statistically very real hence the need to find a practical and effective way to protect ourselves as individuals.
