Theres too much blood shed in the name of religion. People got killed because they dont belong to some sect or group.

Faith is something personal. No one should be compelled to embrace one that he is not convinced. It would be much worse if people use religion to commit violence and chaos.

There is so much overreaction to Pope's statement. Its like every opportunity will be grabbed by fundamentalist to justify killings and more terrors. All in the name of religion.

We can do nothing about it. Its part of everyday hazards that we live in this very imperfect world. We cannot solve Islamic fundamentalism. I regard it as a scourge of humankind. The advocates of it are already missing the point. When one advocates murder because of religion, he or she should question it. Is it still part of the nature of God which is pure good?

I am just very sorry that this time they nitpick a quote from a 13th century figure to attack and despise the Pope. They even call him dog. They protest that they are not evil and inhuman but look what they are doing. They throw grenades at Churches and a cleric (religious person!) in Somalia called for Pope's death. This irrationality is the one Pope Benedict wants to address. I hope all Christians (Catholic or otherwise), Buddhists, Jews, and even moderate Muslims must unite to face this real menace to world peace and understanding of the world today--- Islamic fundamentalism and extremism.

In reading comments on this and other websites, I don't get the feeling anyone understands what our Pope was saying. He was not saying anything negative about Islam. Nor were politicians involved in somehow manipulating what he said. The pope was giving a rather sophisticated lecture on the evolution of the secular state and the philisophical underpinnings of this evolution. This quote of an emporer he used is just a tiny tiny piece of his entire speech. Both Muslims AND Catholics are making a bigger deal out of this than it is. The people we should be mad at are the media. They took our Pope's sophisticated lecture and tried to boil it down to a controversial news bite - which is something the media always does. Really, to the outsiders of our faith, the Pope's speech would be rather mundane. So the media latched onto one sentence and made that one sentence the whole story. All your comments reflect that you are getting sucked into their sham as well, just as some Muslim extemists are getting sucked in (though those extremists are always looking for an excuse). Go and read the Pope's speech and see for yourself. Yes, Satan is at work here; but not just through the obvious use of Muslim extremists waiting to jump on this. He is also using his deception to lull Catholics into believing our Pople said something that he didn't, knowing that many will blindly bow down to the media idol.

Your vatican is the one that has BUTCHERED people since its inception, so dont you lecture me about speaking up about your pope, who by the way has a traceable line of incestuous, murdering, pillaging, raping, butchering popes before him... Is that what your God has taught you?

I, on the other hand, will side with the PEACEFUL muslims, who make up most of the muslim world, who are, as you have noticed, not represented here in istorya. I may be a Baptist, but my God has taught me that we are all brothers, muslims included, so don't you talk about butchering and all that cr*p...
