save your excitement coz it's not.
TSMC and Global Foundries canceled that node and 28nm is not happening until 2011.
so the HD6000 series is still manufactured at 40nm which makes it less exciting.
10-12% performance increase than the 5000 series is good if they keep that up
but I doubt if they can keep the same thermal envelope and power consumption.
Yea it is less exciting since its not a smaller die...
Regarding thermal output, they did manage to improve over 20+% performance with the 4000 to 5000 series while improving thermal heat dissipation though. I've been particularly impressed with ATIs dedication for efficiency so i'm not too worried. At this point though it's all speculation so we'll have to see the final product this november.
if 10-12% ra ang performance than that is nothing but an HD5xxx rebrand.
