"TEACHING is not just about money..it's more about SAFETY and QUALITY.." korean dive operators generally don't adhere to this saying..no wonder a fraction of them always get themselves in trouble when doing underwater lessons..tsk..tsk..tsk..too bad!..

Brod, i made a research via google ba..and noticed that a vast majority of dive accidents here in the Philippines, Cebu in particular, are mostly Korean and Japanese.

What's alarming is that a handful of them are dive professionals (even PADI licensed --if I'm not mistaken).
What is wrong with these divers?

Every dive accident gives the public a bad impression of scuba diving. This is bad for the industry and the sport in general.

If you don't mind me asking, do you know the real story why the accident happened (on that Korean diver who drowned last Oct 24)?

I got my Open Water Dive Certificate about 2 years ago and since then haven't done any significant dives. Last dive was in December 2008. I want to go back diving.... what steps need to be done to activate my Open Water Cert..... Thanks...

di man cguro kinahanglan ipa-activate balik ang open water lang nga certification kay di man na mo lapse regardless pila ka years ka di mo dive. hinumdum lang nuon ko da, dugay na man diay kong way dive

@strongestkarate> most dive accidents happen just because of 1 reason..POOR JUDGEMENT..ang nahitabo last oct 24 was a bit of misjudgement which i think lead to POOR JUDGEMNET!..as i heard about what happened, ang namatay nga korean was taking his ADVANCED OPEN WATER course..at 17 meters depth, nagshoot up siya..daghan kaau dapat timan-an ang mga "TRUE BLUE dive professionals" in reality, if a student has not gone for a period of time, there is no way of checking out his underwater proficiency but to do a CHECK OUT dive..most dive professionals has to take into account nga kining mga turistaha, has not been diving for sometime after the completion of their course..on my case kadaghan nako nakasugat but i usually take EXTREME precautions kay ang underwater world never kakumpyansaan regardless of certification level ug experience..from surface going down as u gain depth, dapat ang mga dive professionals nagcheck sa status sa mga student divers..a single wink or an awkward eye movement or body language can mean trouble..thats y its always a good practice to let the students to tell you exactly how they feel as you go diving..as a dive pro, u have to emphasize the value of being HONEST during your dive briefing..

@dj_sigbin>dili ka need magrenew or something like dive professionals bro..all u have to do is to find a dive master or dive instructor who can do a SCUBA REVIEW on you..mga 1 hour nga refresher training ra na cya prior to the actual dive that u plan to do..it's mandatory to students who had been inactive for at least 6 months. after that, pwede naka dive all the way with a certified dive professional or a responsible dive buddy..if experienced diver napud ka like DIEHARD96, dili na kinahanglan magscuba review kay all your skills will eventually go back in place when ur gills get WET!..hehehe..pero, always see to it lang jud nga ang imoha kuyog sa dive mga RESPONSABLE ug QUALIFIED nga mga dive professionals..

*** CLARIFICATION lang> ang mga divers nga certified from OPEN WATER DIVER to RESCUE DIVER are called CERTIFIED DIVERS..ang mga divers nga naghold ug DIVE MASTER, OPEN WATER SCUBA INSTRUCTOR and UP are called DIVE PROFESSIONALS
