Satanism comprises a number of related beliefs and social phenomena. They share the feature of symbolism, veneration or admiration of Satan (or similar figures). Satan first appeared in the Hebrew Bible and was an Angel who challenged the religious faith of humans. In the Book of Job he is called "the Satan" (meaning "the accuser") and acted as the prosecutor in God's court. A character named "Satan" was described as the cosmic enemy of the Lord and temptor of Jesus within many of the Gospels of early Christians.

satanists also acknowledge God and Jesus Christ even..
Blue imo focus lahi... We are not talking of character/figures here, we are talking about belief. Satanism in bible is different from the satanism belief... to present the fact here is how it goes.
    1. Theistic Satanism, also known as Traditional Satanism or Spiritual Satanism

    Values in Theistic Satanism

For some Satanists, this is a form of gnosticism where they view Yahweh as the demiurge and Satan as the transcendent being beyond, of whom they seek knowledge. Jehovah they believe is a creation of Satan[44] and lies about his powers, and so his Bible is not to be trusted.[44] Satan they believe is about freedom as opposed to all the rules and commandments of Christianity.

Self-development is important to Theistic Satanists. This is due to the Satanists' view of Satan, who is seen to encourage individuality and freedom of thought, and the quest to raise one's self up despite resistance, through means such as magic and initiative.

I really do want this to be a place where Atheist, non believers, and those of all religions and beliefs can compare, examine, and discuss the fundamental differences between their beliefs. Without anger, bitterness, resentments, or ridicule. Imagine being able to explore the minds of those of so many beliefs engaged in a free exchange of ideas and concepts.
don't worry james.. as much as I'd like to put up a mirror, I do have my respects for you.. but please don't blame me if you don't like what you see in the mirror.. with religionists abound who have extreme hatred for those who are not "one of us" will never allow such a place where they can examine or discuss the fundamental differences.. because the moment you put an alternative explanation, they lash out at you..

What and why they believe their beliefs, without the arguing and end fighting. It could be an amazing thing to see members engaged through positive exchange and not pettiness. The arguments get old and only result in hard feelings, closed threads, and banned topics. Nobody wins or learns, in fact it is everyone's loss. I simply saw religious start religious threads- closed; Atheist start Atheist threads - closed; and Atheist start Religious threads- closed. So being a former Atheist I thought maybe, just maybe, an ex-Atheist/ now Religious Fanatic could start and Atheist thread that could engage and be accepted by everyone. I have been on both sides of this issue and understand both camps. This is why I started this thread, and I hope it works because I think the Mods were sending a message when they closed over 20 threads in two day, all which were on this subject.
that's sad.. if men were angels, we would have no need of governments.. but alas, the former isn't the case, and so the latter exists..

    on to the topic....

Well, for me, being able to stay in japan for a couple of months gave me a picture of an atheistic community. But first I must confine myself that by "atheism" we mean "absence of belief in the existence of deities" [as define in Wikipedia]. Most Japanese doesn't have religion, they don't have this concept of a supreme being. And quite frankly, they like it that way [some Japanese extremists even hold protest in front of churches, saying "leave them be"]. Although without "moral standards" taught by religion, Japanese have prospered. Crime rate in japan is very low, their police doesn't even carry guns.

So how did it change my idea/concept on atheism?
-It changed my views a lot. Being born and raised in a Christian family and lived in a largely Christian country [phils], we have this notion that atheists are evil, the complete opposite of what we believe in. When I was young, i have been told that scientists are atheists, they defy God, thus must be avoided.
A harsh way to say this is, we have been "brainwashed", religion has already set the norms for us, what is good, what is bad.

But why do we see so many wars caused by religion?
    Yet we preach peace...

We accuse atheists of not having a moral standard, but yet they lived with prosperity.

I heard one atheist say in a debate i saw in youtube, "Atheists are just Another Thinking Human being Engaged In Seeking the Truth".

Faith should be a personal journey, a quest in seeking the truth. Whichever path it leads, whether you become convinced that there is a God or not. Be happy that you have discovered it on your own not just something being imposed on you.

I being a Christian I want to know, why I should leave my faith? As an Atheist what benefits from your belief, should make a Christian leave their faith. Using facts and reason, can an intelligent dialog be established. This is an opportunity for Atheist to put their best foot forward and present Atheism in the best light. Christians and believers need to be respectful and stick only to facts, as you would want Atheist to treat your belief.
errr, dont get this the wrong way james...but me, an atheist is under no obligation to spread the WERD, of ?noGod...nor obliged to debrief the brainwashed. bible huggers do, thats a fact...as evidenced by thy holy scripture.

i really dont mind if they do those things or practices they do, they are free to do those. why should i hold them back?
it only starts when these people start claiming their beliefs as a general rule of some sort.
how do bible huggers on a WORD spreading frenzy respond to people, who like me questions the basis of their claims? like this bloke who claims DOUBT as a form of sin. lolz
    A) thank you for your time.
    B) bombards you with circular reasoning and the whole nine yards. if you're not buying it they then bombard you with threats of torture and brimstone. then the ad hominems roll out like homilies.

atheism for me was a personal choice. nobody came knocking to my door yapping about have you heard the bad news or other sales talk religionists do? to be brief, it's a personal journey. that said, i believe this world wasnt meant for atheist nor bible huggers alone.<---fundamentalist cant seem to grasp that idea, their way is the ONLY way, absolutism.

I agree. I am not an atheist, but it took me a long time to seek God, because I don't like how things are imposed on me: pray the rosary, attend to church, go to processions, sponsor masses, etc.
