On the topic -> This is my own experience, and i believe this is true to all. If someone's not for you, then he/she's not for you, no matter how much you work for it. You may not give up and keep going though, but again, One can only do so much. In the end, His will be done. His plans are perfect unlike ours, maybe God is telling you something. No use resisting against it.
