^^ Actually, the bidding process is very much transparent. It's just that the TIM (local partner) and Smartmatic (the foreign based company) have irreconcilable differences which made all these confusion. As per the news, they have met yesterday for them to talk about their differences: money matters, perhaps.

The COMELEC has given them until Friday to settle the matter accordingly. Otherwise, Chairman Melo will be constrained the file respective cases against them. After all, they cannot just bid and simply run away.

The gap between these two firms has been resolved.

We're back on track. According to Chairman Melo, we will be having automated polls in 2010.

The two companies have settled their differences already. Hence, there should be no reason for us not to look forward to automated polls in time for next year. I guess we should really be welcoming this kind of news. Before TIM agreed, COMELEC was already considering taking over the responsibilities of TIM. But since TIM already agreed, COMELEC need not worry much. As for now, we can only look forward to something beneficial for all of us in 2010, automation.
