When you fall apart without breaking into pieces, then you are actually practicing AWARENESS!

from a diary: awareness can lead to momentary enlightenment

it was a saturday. i had the day off. i was riding a jeepney from commonwealth, qc to evergotesco mall, when this feeling of total awareness & oneness came over me. i felt i was one with everything i could see, hear, smell and feel. i was the jeep, the driver, the plants on the roadside, the sky, the clouds, the air, the rocks, the buildings, even the garbage, hahaha. i was the world, the universe and all were me.

in that moment, i realized the truthfulness of this statement: everything is love, everything is one and there is only love. there was a feeling of serenity and calm. the experience only lasted for about 15 minutes. i felt a yearning to have that feeling again. but at the same time, i was grateful to have been given a glimpse of the universe and that i did not missed my stop

You had a very profound experience Miyay! You became ONE WITH GOD and you can again realize that again and again and again!

I think it's pretty simple. We can do it by finding time each day to be still -- putting aside every distraction and just being with our self for some quiet time, not doing or saying anything.

    ^ Oo bro.

But for some of us it's difficult to keep still even for a few minutes.

Read some literature on emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is made up of several skills. The first is always awareness of one's feelings.

So a practical suggestion for self-awareness would be for us to try to be aware, as much as possible, of our feelings at any given moment. That could be a very healthy practice.

^ Yes, Daniel Goldman! But before him there was John Mayer. Goldman popularized EI, but Mayer and his colleagues were actually the ones who did pioneering studies on it.
