What were their first reason nga nagkalisod sila (kami).Are you sure it is a last resort? Or perhaps it is the first explanation. You should do a detailed statistics first before laying down a criticism which includes a large amount of people. Although I can't wholly blame you for what you are saying, as it is related to what you believe, but please avoid too much generalizing. Remember we are both atheist and theist on each others perspective.

the mentality that kung gi panganak kang POBRE, POBRE for life na ka. which is somewhat reinforced with the whole belief that "god will's it", "plano ni lord mani", ug uvan pa. wishfully thinking of something better...a form of escape from reality. thats probably why most people invest in this so called HEAVEN/afterlife.

addendum: which brings us back again to why and how people complain how SCREWED this world we're living, LIVING NOW.
