@lostsoul...ok lang oi...i know how you must feel upon reading the book maong you encourage eveyone...i have read Broken Wings.....and also got the collection of poems Tears and Laughter from a friend....

On Gibran's religious affiliation...i am glad he has none...that is why he has such open views....sometimes man gud...religion because of it's desire for exclusivity...mo cause na nuon ug divisiveness....

but he has a book...Jesus the Son of Man.... ( wala pa ko ka read nuon ani)...

@Luthienne - i like the way you interpreted the religion thingy....and the thought about trying to solve so much we neglect to see the truth right before our eyes....

And if you would know God, be not therefore a solver of riddles.

my interpretation of this is that if you want to know God, you must not keep on guessing and/or pretending to know who and what kind of god God is. we must not be like those hypocrites who think they are better than others and that they have a better chance at salvation than most because they think they know God better. i think what Gibran wanted to tell us is that if you really want to know God, you wont have to search so much, you will see God in every single thing around you and in you. i mean with all the goodness around you, how can you not see and know God?

"Your daily life is your temple and your religion"
Indeed, this is the practical approach to religion, and a must for every believer (of whatever faith). "Who can separate his faith from his actions, or his belief from his occupations?"

But I guess, this is also true to Gibran himself. He cannot separate his faith and belief from his writings.

"Our God, who art our winged self, it is thy will in us that willeth...." Here, it implies the divinity or even the godhood of man. Still, this is consistent with the Hindu belief of achieving nirvana or the brahma stage after many reincarnations.

"And if you would know God, be not therefore a solver of riddles." From a christian perspective, if you trust God, leave everything to him coz he is in control. Or, if you know your God, why bother debate on trivias about Him.

The above are just my observations, and i do not attempt to explain kay basin naa diay lain meaning ani iya writings. But I learned a lot from Gibran.

Gibran is a non conformist...he hates the dictates of society..he advocates the idea of following the heart...and of freeing the mind...

that's always the case...sometimes it is next to impossible to agree on 100% sa mga ideas sa mga philosophers ...but i think the important thing is the inspiration you get on the items you do agree on...
