Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it.
japan has been on nuclear power for more than 10 years
their radioactive waste is reprocessed and conveted to nuclear fuel
the remainder is burried underground 2 kilometers down with no chance of radiation escaping....
chernobyl.......lesson have been learned
taiwan, japan, france they haven't experienced chernobyl type accidents....
with regards to undersea cables cebu is interconnected already with leyte and negros...... cebu-leyte-negros grid(thats why there was a blackout when earthquake struck leyte)
riskynothing risked... nothing gained
expensive?? really
?? solar power is more expensive, windpower is also expensive
when you compute cost show us per kilowatt hour.......
coal power cost 6 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour
hydroelectric cost 4 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour
geothermal cost 5 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour
solar power cost 20 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour[
windpower cost 15 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour
diesel power cost 9 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour
natural gas cost 8 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour
nuclear power cost 11 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour
so which is costly............
Ang kato black out wala mantoy major damage, or even minor damage... Safety precautionary measure rman to cia, sort of SOP nila.Originally Posted by dagget

^^^from ur list nuke s stil not d cheapest alternative, d tech 4 solar n wind make it expensive, but as new materials come in dey may go down
wyl it is true dat new tech has patched up the disaster in Chernobyl, i am rily apprehensive w/ d way our gov't compromises public safety w/ budget cuts, so i'm afraid we wud hav a nuke plant badly maintained n jst seconds away to a major disaster
wala lagi damage pero gi stop ang geothermal nya black out ang whole cebu...... thats shows how vulnerable cebu has becomeOriginally Posted by Sanosuke
one disaster will turn all the lights out......
maintenanceOriginally Posted by dagget
if you say solar and wind power will get cheaper with new material
wouldn't that apply too to nuclear power? as technology progress nuclear power will also become cheaper..... its not excusive only to solar and wind power
^^^yea, n putting a badly maintained nuke makes us even more vulnerable, not maybe to blackouts but total annihilation![]()
don't you think you also have to maintain geothermal, hydroelectric, natural gas plants and etc.Originally Posted by tolstoi
??
maintenance is handled quite well nowadays........
radiationwell other nuclear countries have a safe record(except russia)
anyway everything will have maintenance cost..... nuclear power you need to replace fuel rods every 5-10 years.....
so in every 5 years you bring out the radioactive spent fuel...... every 5 years..... i can live with that....
