so for those who haven't patched their Windows OS yet, better patch now.

for those people having problem with AutoRun type of worm/virus, just search for AutoRun Eater, download and install. It will fix most of your autorun virus problems.

Agree with ChaosOrb. Btw, aside from patching, make your passwords strong. Easy-to-guess passwords are likely to get easily infected. And also, choose a strong firewall.

Huh, tungod lng sa kalagot gi.fire na cya? Luoya pud.

If the company has all valid licenses for the OS, then there is no reason for the IT Admin not to patch. So the IT Admin is at fault.

If the company is using a pirated version kay nagtipid. Dili na sala sa IT Admin.

    tsk tsk tsk....

Default new scare on the net "w32.downloadup"

Guys, worm has back this time but no longer "medium risk". Last 4 years w32.downloadup was classified by symantec corp. and microsoft as a (medium risk) worm virus, the task was to hide all active folders, perform to configure a low security, create open ports from your station to communicate unauthorized user's, disable autorun and executable files, it slows processes performance and the worst scenario part was to affect your drives and crashes on the later part. But now the w32.downloadup has back and packed with 3x stronger than the old worm. Last month our company was hit and surprise the effect of the new w32.downloadup. It rapidly spread to all open connections, mostly taking over the network. And can transfer to other station within a sec. the virus made delays to our production area and some priority transaction that needed to transmit is also affected. In after almost 1 week, we already take over the virus issues with the help also of the symantec corp. they just give us some procedures and patches to be applied in affected area. And after that, we completely cleaned all the working station that were affected before. And until now it still on-going under observation status, we need to be sure on what else would be affected and how it perform execution during running process.

sir, cant you guys trace the creators of the virus and the people who develop them? with microsoft and symantec helping together it could be a posibility...

usahay mag duda na lang pud ko nga the one who makes the virus and updates them are also the people who makes the anti-virus? why keep on defending if those companies has the resources to trace them?

unsa na nga computer naa sa imung background?

that's the point, if they can stop it they know how to trace it
that's impossible if they can't; i know its absurd pero i can;t help but entertain the thought of the antivirus companies that needs to sustain their business... (well i hope im wrong, but right about them tracing the virus' source)
