that's the biblical version of it. believe me, there's a much later version of this conflict and it has all the political agenda and flavorings in it. malic has posted it already. read it on the thread "a 2nd look at islam."

Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year."
Ishmael is not Abraham's descendant? tsk tsk, here comes the elitist syndrome.

Read your bible pls. and ready my post carefully...spot the main issue to avoid confusion on your part.

hahaha...well you can say that...but that would be a poor exegesis, here is the proper interpretation.

the point is circumcision is prescribe even to those who are Gentiles. Question is when you are in the HOUSEHOLD of Abraham are you still a Gentile? Nope.

You have to understand also that Judaism came after Abraham. There was no religion called Judaism during his time. Now when Moses came he also included the law of circumcision in the Torah following God's instruction that this covenant should be an everlasting covenant and anyone who wish to follow the religion of God(judaism) must submit himself to the covenant of circumcision.

therefore, Abraham's household as time passed could mean, within the context of the Torah and the Abrahamic covenant,Religion.

wow! the Muslims have the proper interpretation of the Christian/Jewish scriptures.. It's like a doctor teaching the engineer how to build a bridge

Yes but you are under Abraham.. there was nothing written there that those relatives of Abraham's Gentile servants that are not in Abrahams household would be included in the circumcision.. If there was then your "proper interpretation" holds water

And we follow Christianity not Judaism.. you can talk to the Jews on how they should interpret it

Yes it's normal but is the interpretation the "proper interpretation"? that's the question.. I believe the bible is the word of God.. it is used for teaching, correcting and rebuking.. I believe the bible can speak for itself..

and oh.. I believe Malic is a Muslim so he doesn't believe in the bible.. what's the point of saying that the proper interpretation of this bible passage is this and and this passage means that if he doesn't believe in what it says in the first place?

How can you say that the bible is the word of GOD when it it has so many flaw and errors? Even GOD did not ask to write a book much less this bible which is full of errors.

actually the analogy would be like...a doctor teaching a quack doctor the proper way to diagnose a patient.
