if they say that dividing the province would bring development, then why don't we just make each city in the entire philippines a province

better, why not make each village, each subdivision, each barrio a province? so that now we'll have thousands of provinces...

or far more better, why don't they make each village, each subdivision, each street, each avenue, each barangay, into a separate Country and state

Well, that might satisfy their idea of "development"

yes this would help cebu but not the nation..we know that cebu is a big economy sa pinas..pero dili maka balik dayon sa atoa ang incme na gina genarate diri sa ato..kai ma ad2 sa lain nga province nya ma ad2 sa mga kurakot nga politikos..

Congressmen are given hundreds of millions of pesos as pork barrel... and where do these go?

In a prominent town (not city) almost a hundred kilometers up north of Cebu alone, a "very" prominent politician (name witheld) hands over money every elections so that he (or his relative who is replacing him) will win in congress and in the municipality... I've interviewed all our "katabangs" who come from that place and they all said that they were given around P300 just to vote for him or his relative who is going to replace him (although it was an innocent answer from them)...

    Dividing Cebu = unending corruption

    guys....PB finally votes: Split-Cebu wins May 24, 2005

The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) has finally spoken and, with a vote of 8-7, supported the move to divide Cebu into smaller provinces.

The resolution is one of the requirements of the House committee on local government before it tackles the three bills filed by three Cebu congressmen for the creation of their districts into separate provinces.

It also ended three months of long suspense on their stand on the three-split Cebu House bills.

Those who voted for Cebu’s division for development of “forsaken” towns were PB Members Carmiano Kintanar, Jose Ma. Gastardo, Joevn Mon-digo, Antonio Almirante, Estrella Yapha, Victoria Corominas, Bacaltos and Gabriel Luis Quisumbing.

PB Members Juan Bolo, Rosemarie Durano, Alfred Francis Ouano, Teresita Celis, Ramon Martin Calderon, Victor Maam-bong and Agnes Magpale believe in the “strength of a united Cebu.”

But Capitol consultant Pablo John Garcia said in an interview that it’s still a long way to go to before the plan to divide Cebu is realized.

“It was not monumental. We have expected that. It was one step of a journey of a thousand miles because what is critical is the favorable resolutions from the component cities and municipalities of the district that wants to become a province,” he said. MORE
