Victor Wooten is the shiznit!!!! the greatest bass contemporary aside for Pastorius. well, to add on your lists, i would highly recommend Chet Baker, and Frank Zappa if you want "jazz from Hell".

unless they made a drastic shift in musical styles, I'm afraid some artists in Daki's list do'nt exactly fall into the smooth jazz genre:
