    Hmmm.. I respect your opinion, however in my side I strongly disagree hehehe… and agree with the line narrow perspective = project disaster. But not in terms of how many programming languages you know or must use in dev. And I don’t think someone here knows only nothing but C. kung BASIC, COBOL or PASCAL meron cguro but very rare. Programming languages are easy if you started in C.

    Having skillset of C++, PHP & Python is somehow not good for me. PHP was designed to grow in World Wide Web application. And I discourage to learn php if your professional tracks are not in web development.

    C, C++ & Python are excellent combination. In fact, learning Python gives you advance understanding in C++. I’ve tested on this…even worked on it for a bit sometime now. Of course, I still admire those people who really keen working in VB, C#, and JAVA.

    And here lies our irreconcilable differences. Why discourage someone from learning something new? Why limit yourself from reaching your true potential? So what if you're not in to Web development? Is learning PHP bad?

    Its not bad... especially if you have plenty of time to invest and found some future on it.
    sometimes in order to master something is to limit the other thing. excluding dun sa mga genius hehehe... cheers.... OT OT OT....

    Again and for the last time: Please open your own thread when you want to discuss something unrelated to the OP's question.

    If aim mo po ang Web Development side at ang target mo ay singapore. Go for .NET technology / JAVA / Solaris / AIX / Oracle. Sad to say, don’t go open source they haven’t adopt it yet especially PHP, MySQL, Linux, Unix and Apache, although some small companies are using but expect lesser salary range.

    Lately some IT Tech. company here launches their product developed under Web 2.0 concepts. So its quite good to know these things in advance like AJAX , which they said that it replaces the underlying protocols like HTTP, but criticized by few professionals that it only adds additional layer of abstraction. However, I notice that some companies now, begun seeking to work on this field.

    Usually salary range in web developers dito: take note that this is starting salary only.

    Jr. Level SGD1200-SGD1900 (1 to 2 years)
    Mid-Level SGD200-SGD2500 (3 to 5 years)
    Sr.Level SGD2500-SGD3500 (more than 5 years)

    Ang kalaban mo sa pag-aaply ang local Singaporeans, and Malaysians. Kc tumatanggap sila ng SGD900 to SGD1200. pero swerte2x lang talga. Maraming IT d2 sa sg. One reason or things they like about filipinos is that we can speak and communicate English fluently… hindi kagaya ng mga locals d2 na pag nagsalita takip na ang ilong ko hehehe.. at known tayo sa pagiging hardworker at more on job accomplishments.

    Medyo mababa ang increment dito ranges lang ng SGD50-SGD100 per year. But sa bunoses medyo mataas. Some company give 2-5 months some are 7-9 months. medyo mahirap if through agencies…kc marami barako dyn sa atin. But before accepting jobs in Singapore you should consider the lifestyle here. Sobrang mahal ng accommodation dito. If you have plan or pending jobs…you can contact me and ask more detailed advice.

    Hope this helps…

    it really depends upon your skills and demand...try this salary guide...

    http://www.robertwalters.com.sg/reso.../Singapore.pdf
    Salary Information of Hudson Singapore - Hudson
    Hays Recruitment
    http://www.kellyservices.com.sg/res/...handbook08.pdf

    Rent sa bahay: 500 medyo ok na ito...although meron tig 300 lang
    PUB (tubig,ilaw, pero usually fix ito): 200-250 depende kung paano ka gumamit like phone bills mo.
    FOOD let say you spend 20 per day so 600 na.
    TRANSPORT 150 cguro a month. depende kung malapit ka sa train at hindi ka magtataxi

    and to summarize....

    House = 500
    PUB = 250
    Food = 600
    Transport = 150
    Sub total = SGD 1500

    Misc:

    Vices (smoke, drink, etc...) = 300
    Babae (kung mahilig ka) = kung pinay, indonesia,thailand $45-70, kung china = $100+ kung chinese malaysian =$80+

    kung nasa 3,000 ka - 1500 = 1500 take home - MISC mo hehehe

    pero marami dito kababayan natin kahit 1200 nakapag padala parin. depende yan sa lifestyle ng tao din.
