lahi lahi ug criteria ang mga prospective employers. some companies would not hire licensed professionals coz of reasons like: 1) the job does not require a license 2) licensed professional seek higher pay 3) no company loyalty 4) or just plain bias

but i say that those with license are mostly preferred by companies. If you have a license nya wa ka trabaho, don't give up easily. I know nga sa mga CPAs, dali ra ang trabaho. Same with engineers. But for nurses and teachers, the government is really in need of them.

the best thing to do is to gather all ur prospect companies and evaluate them and do some research and background check sa company.

but why is it that many of my friends, who took the engineering board exam and passed, are having a hard time looking for jobs.. esp. when most openings require at least 1-5 yrs. of experience..

let's face it.. most companies, esp. construction & engineering ones, would prefer to hire the more experienced applicants even if they don't have licenses over the newly licensed & prc registered but inexperienced applicants..

but how can they gain experience if nobody would hire them and give them a chance?

    most importantly..

is getting a license still important when experience is the main priority in job requirements?
congrats and welcome to the real world of the unemployed.
getting your license is the 1st step kay di gihapon ka maka experience kay way mo hire nimo.
and then... pag apply nimo, 20 mo kabook naay lisensya nga way experience fighting over 5 vacant positions hahaha

ang saying about sa lisensya nga edge over the others is applicable sa 80's or early 90's. Karon perteng daghanang ECE, ME o unsa pa dinha. Right now you need connections, good grades and a license to have a good starting salary.

if naa ka plan mo abroad, nya wa kay gibuhi lain, then antos nalang ug minimum pay for 2-3 years kay mao na offer sa mga badlungon nga licensed engineers ron(like me). if good grades ka, madawat paka ug job around the 10k range, rare na ang 15k+ and usually ang offeran ani kay katong para sa mga big engineering companies like Lexmark R&D.

but if ganahan rajud ka pinas, pag call center nalang, starting salary nimo usually supervisor or even managerial position na. but since everyone says its "unstable" just make sure nga naa kay alternative plans, like magnegosyo ka. in my case mag poker nalang ko hehehe.

    goodluck to your career

@ Metz: i have a CE friend whose really having a hard time finding a job in his field.. what are the steps that you need to apply for jobs abroad? don't you need experience too? or does it require technical skills?

it's really true that most professionals just tend to apply sa callcenter.. ms dali pa ang hiring..
