Mission - The Philippine Military Academy adheres to the philosophy that education must develop the whole person. Under this concept, education is not limited to the development of the intellect only. It also includes physical education, the acquisition of knowledge, and the development of skills, habits, and attitudes and
values, which are required by a chosen profession. This "total-person" concept is aptly captured in the PMA mission statement:
"to instruct, train and develop the cadets so that each graduate shall possess the
character, the broad and basic military skills, and the education essential to the successful pursuit of a progressive military career"
Four Pillars of Cadet Development - Consistent with the Academy’s philosophy of education and mission, the proposed curriculum is anchored on the educational and training philosophy committed to the pursuit of essential leadership traits:
1. Leadership and
character development
2. Broad and basic military skills
3. Liberal education in the arts and sciences
4. Physical fitness to lead men
As such, it blends intellectual, military professional, physical, and
character development of the cadets.
The PMA curriculum thus molds leaders of character who possess moral-ethical uprightness, leadership and team skills, versatility, communication skills, and dedication to life-long learning. At the same time, it produces leaders of the 21st century who shall be professional officers of the Armed Forces.
