Sounds at buried school in Leyte heard by diggers

GUINSAUGON, Southern Leyte -- Hopes of finding survivors were rekindled after rescue workers detected "signs of life" Monday at the site of an elementary school buried by a landslide.

Sounds of scratching and a rhythmic tapping were picked up by seismic sensors and sound-detection gear brought in by US, Taiwanese and Malaysian forces, said South Leyte Governor Rosette Lerias.

while it is "saintly" to act first before complaining, IMO it wouldn't hurt that some people will act and some people find who's to be blamed in the interest of justice not only in this particular tragedy.

we can blame DENR for not doing their job in policing illegal logging activities in the area..likewise we can also blame the Leyte residents for not being vigilant in protecting the environment.

can be the DENR faults but it's the responsibility of the residents of conserving their natural resources. and what had happen was their own fault. its the revenge of the mother nature. despite of this tremendous calamity we still have to help and have them realize that god is good though it has to be that way.

there was no illegal logging in St.Bernard. the tragedy was a result of the intense rain and movement of the earth. my mother's side of the family is from nearby lilo-an southern leyte.
