This is regression at it's worst.

FYI, it's not ice water, it's supposed to be iced water. Anyway, what difference does it make? We even call toy cars as "tarak-tarak" instead of "truck-truck" or "trak-trak". . We can't even get our Bisaya straight. LOL, big LOL. Anyway, English is a very versatile and flexible language, so informally there's no right or wrong as long as you're being understood.

Minimize == asawa ni Mickey Mouse.

English doesn't make us poor, it's the kind of mindset that Filipinos have that makes us poor and one of which is thinking that "English makes us poor". This is obviously the wrong solution to the problem. You're barking at the wrong dog.. aw tree diay.

Sakto jud ni bai. In Germany for example, ang Munich lang among the cities ang dunay pikadaghan kabalo mo-english however less than half can speak and understand english. If you go to other cities such as Nuremberg, Frankfurt, or even the capital Berlin mga 10% lang jud siguro sa population ang kabalo mo-english (kinamatis pa jud na).

Though communication is a significant factor, i think people's attitude is more important.
And by the way, just my personal observation, kaning mga kabayan natong pinoy mao ra bay kusog mamantay ug grammar. pati kaning mga native english speakers kay ila pajud ning sawayon.

The poor english among our fella countrymen has nothing to do with the situation here in the PI, there are so many factors that contribute to the poverty that is getting worse, I am not an economist, but this is a serious problem, overpopulation is one, we have so many babymakers here inspite of poverty. I give up. . . . somebody should look into this problem much much deeper.

Not saying I disagree, but I just want to point out a few things.

    - It is not unreasonable to want to be instant millionaires. It is the reason the lottery is still in business.
    - It is not unreasonable to want to prosper with change. Change never comes however.
    - It is not unreasonable to want the government to actually do their jobs and show leadership.

English has nothing to do with our economic situation.
No language is above the other, so it is a non-factor. EDUCATION, or more specifically, the LACK thereof, is why we are so poor.

your fluency in the English language doesn't necessarily translate to success... but it may have some advantages... hard work and diligence are still more important...

naa pud bya mga pobre na maayo mo-english then naa pud mga rich pero dili pud kaayo kbaw mo-english...
