read that ^^ post again...emphasis on YOU (whole body)..

    What KI cannot do
Knowing what KI cannot do is also important. KI cannot prevent radioactive iodine from entering the body. KI can protect only the thyroid from radioactive iodine, not other parts of the body. KI cannot reverse the health effects caused by radioactive iodine once damage to the thyroid has occurred. KI cannot protect the body from radioactive elements other than radioactive iodine—if radioactive iodine is not present, taking KI is not protective.
klaro ra dba kng unsa ako pasabot? your body is not only thyroid, it's a LOT more than just thyroid..yeah, you can protect your thyroid but what about the rest of your organs? And Fukushima nuclear plant is not just radioactive iodine, it's more than that.

Well, at least it could protect your thyroid, but would you settle for "at least"? And honestly, you can even survive without a thyroid..if you get thyroid cancer, get it removed and live on meds for the rest of your life, who needs KI? yeah, but "at least" your thyroid is safe and your brain has cancer.

Bro, first, read my post before this one and..

if you bothered to read your post or your research, this was included there:

This is not a good idea.
Why? Because most people believe that potassium iodide (KI) is an "anti-radiation pill." Well, it isn't. The fact remains that KI protects only one organ - the thyroid - from only one form of radiation, I-131. You are still at risk of being exposed to other forms of radiation and becoming seriously ill - or even dying from radiation sickness!
Only distance from the source of radiation offers you any true protection. That is why evacuation should always be your priority in a radiological emergency! Forget about searching your home for KI pills. Get in your car and evacuate instead.
Again, would you settle for "at least" your thyroid is safe?

and I'd like to emphasis on this from your "research":

"Get in your car and evacuate instead."

You see the importance of radiation suits? Because if KI was SOOO effective in protecting your BODY from radiation, then radiation suits should have been obsolete by the time KI was made, if KI was that effectve as an "anti-radiation" pill if that was the case.

When I first saw the adversity on TV, the very first thing that caught my attention was the calmness and composure of the Japanese people.

Every time naay interviewhon sa TV, relax ra kaau sila manubag. No rants, raving & they only show little emotion, wala kaayoy mag tyabaw2x despite everything that just happened.

Ang foreign media (esp ABC News) tagbaw nalang ug add ug "drama" sa ilang story coz they can't seem to find it from the people affected.

Hats off to the Japanese, they just earned the world's utmost respect.

your reasoning is fatally flawed because your argument heavily focused on what KI cannot do. Obviously, you will note that people do not use KI for what it cannot do; they are using it for what it CAN do.

    your original insinuation states:

    WRONG.

The article [http://www.bt.cdc.gov/radiation/ki.asp] I have posted specifically states as follows:

    "What does KI do?
Following a radiological or nuclear event, radioactive iodine may be released into the air and then be breathed into the lungs. Radioactive iodine may also contaminate the local food supply and get into the body through food or through drink. When radioactive materials get into the body through breathing, eating, or drinking, we say that “internal contamination” has occurred. In the case of internal contamination with radioactive iodine, the thyroid gland quickly absorbs this chemical. Radioactive iodine absorbed by the thyroid can then injure the gland. Because non-radioactive KI acts to block radioactive iodine from being taken into the thyroid gland, it can help protect this gland from injury."

It is clear from the above-quoted article that KI helps.

WRONG again for the same reason stated above.

In addition, you will note that nobody implied that KI is an absolute protection from radiation as what you are trying to impress. To reiterate, people use KI for what it can do and not for what it can't. You have no right to impose upon these persons your crooked logic.
