    Default Filipino Martial Arts

i have been promoting Filipino Martial Arts for some time now...thats my job, every year for he past eight years in the University, although i started out in Lapunti Arnis De Abanico, but ended up in the doce Pares, i see to it that my students in filipino martial arts understands the importance of preservation of our own culture. Eskrima is our identity as a filipino. also it is a way of educating our students about important values that goes with the practice, respect-regardless what nationality, understanding- to all people, not just filipino, and of course breaking bad filipino habits, like not bieng on time, making promises and making excuses, under the table or palakasay, too much pride and arrogance- to the point that theres no reconciliation.

some poeple may think that, its only them who practice Filipino martial arts making assumptions that they the only one dreaming of a Strong United Eskrima inthe Philippines...how dare are these people. these are the dreams of any practitioners of eskrima. My friend Ned Nepanque will agree to this. My teacher in Doce Pares and founder of Kauswagan Self Defense Brotherhood Guru Borces will agree to this, My friend Guru Kris Codezar of Lapunti Arnis Abanico wil agree to this, Jun Dacayana will surely agree to this,i have met Guru Nick of Balintawak will surely agree to this....and some people acts ,as if they are the only practitioners of eskrima. i dream that Eskrima will exist someday without fighting each other

you are making good strides in preserving our art, just dont make assumptions that youre group is the only one. You have no idea what my strides are...

you people think youre the only people who suffers everytime theres trouble in the arnis community.
i hurts me to see these problems, it brings eskrima reputations down...people in the community thinks thats eskrima practitioners are barbaric or something because they keep on fighting each other, it just affect everybody not only you here in the istorya forum.

he is doing fine he miss serving the country, he always liked to be in the service.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    to el barako post

being a warrior means having a cause worth living and dying for. being a warrior means having principles to live by and standing up to the forces who try to make you compromise on these principles.

------------------- your opinion in warriorship is very interesting...my opinion is a bit similar, but different.

for me a cause worth living or to die for...is not very good. for me understanding, truce or treaty is much more preferable-win-win situation . becuase" cause" can be very subjective, it can be a bad cause or a good cause... then again it can be a good cause for some people, and yet bad for some. it can be a bad cause, yet good to some people.

serving in the armed forces like my father is a good cause, but on the other hand its not good for those in the NPA(sparrow unit), like my uncle.
    visa-versa.

what would happened there would be no understanding? no treaty? would elimination to the end the most preferred choice? i think in my own opinion, the war will never stop. its will just grow bigger and bigger, just beacause i believe in a cause, makes it worthy to be killed or to kill.

thats why we have this problem with extremist. fanatics in their political or religion. war because of religion was very devastating, religious war was more brutal because they have " a cause"

Adolf Hitler had a cause - was it worthy to kill millions?
Terrorist have reasons and a cause - is it right to bomb, hostage to justify?

A man loaded with bombs blows himself up in the school bus, all because in the name of liberation, for me could never be justified-just because of a cause.

    so where is the love?
thats why " the cause" is subjective- whos right? whos wrong? but whether correct ,is it ALWAYS RIGHT to live and die for it? i think it is a very complicated matter, a matter which varies from condition to condition.

a person good in warriorship is not the one who impulsively decides to go war. a good warrior knows that if there is war, there is also suffering and he himself suffers because he is in the front line, and he knows people will suffer whichever side it is - so he doesnt encourage war. But when the time comes for him to fight, he does it without hesitation, because it is his duty.
good warrior is not childish and does not resort to name calling, he is in control.
a good warrior has a good emotional control , he doesnt let go of his mind. he doesnt give in to his anger or hatred. It is very easy to speak about it, and i know it is also very, very difficult to do.

for me compromise is the key, without it people will never get along. ther has to be some form of understanding and agreement, and sacrifice with both parties to achieve peace.
