hahahahaha.. thats why i like your posts... anyway, yeah.. you have a point.. in my humble opinion, though, i think that a working gundam of this size does not really need to be equipped with a supercomputer.. i mean, in the real sense, if all you wanted was a working gundam, then you wouldn't need much of a super 96-core processor by the company named ClearSpeed (not trying to put shame on Intel's 80-core project though)... all you need are working hydraulic tubes and some gear and equipment for making this stuff actually work.. just like power machines, backhoes or something of sorts.. I really don't mind if someone here in the philippines could actually make a prototype of that thing but I highly doubt that the materials and equipment would be that expensive.. ya know... pinoys are too resourceful to spend that much... hahahahaha.... long live pinoy...

IMHO, a humanoid weapon would be very, very impractical in this epoch. especially if you consider the cost.

and the designers of the various GUNDAM (i'm talking about the artists, not the engineers in the GUNDAM universe) had aesthetics in mind first before functionality or anything else like that.

For instance, think of how complicated the dynamics involved in making the robot move would be. Heck, even balancing the thing on two feet would be an achievement in itself.

I still think 700 million is very expensive. America's hardware looks perfect on the drawing board, but countless encounters have proven that the durability of the cheaper Russian design prevails on the battlefield. (drag an AK-47 through a ricefield and it'd still fire normally, whereas the M-16 jams when exposed to sand.)

Military wise, this is an utter waste of resources.

That being said, who cares, man?! GIANT ROBOTS ARE COOL. END OF DISCUSSION.

Smile Japan law allows military use of space...

TOKYO — Japan passed a new law allowing the use of space programmes for defence, an official said, reversing a decades-old policy amid increasing concern about military threats in the region..

While Japan has no current plans for a new defence project in space, experts say the law could clear the way for the launch of early-warning satellites..

The move comes amid growing concerns here about North Korea's ballistic missile development and China's military and space programmes..

The opposition-controlled Upper House voted 221 to 14 to revise a 1969 parliamentary resolution limiting Japan's use of space to non-military applications..

The Bill was approved by the Lower House last week..

The law says that the use and development of space should be done "in accordance with the pacifist spirit of the Japanese Constitution" and benefit the security of Japan and the international community. Japan's US-imposed post-World War II Constitution says the country will never again wage war..

The opposition Japanese Communist Party was against the Bill, fearing it would lead to a stronger military..

But Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura dismissed concerns that the law could mean Japan's defence capabilities exceed the constitutional limits..

Proponents of the legislation argue that it is necessary as Japan has fallen behind other nations in space technology, particularly as China moves to capture space business in Asia, Africa and Latin America. — AFP
