Actually, ang understanding nako sa Death Note Episode 0 is that it was the original sample story na gihimo ni Ohba & Obata for Shonen Jump before nila gi-pursue ang actual Death Note series. Kung TV series pa ni, it may be called a "pilot episode". Ang purpose ani is to let the publishers evaluate kung okay ba i-furnish ang story into a regular series.

So, technically, it's not totally correct to say that "it happened before Chapter 1 of the series".

sakto..it did not happen before chapter 1, pero if nangita mo ana na chapter you can "find it" obviously "before" chapter 1, that's what i meant..
