yeah lets all go back to stone age

yeeesh. the narrowness of your perception and judgement actually surprises me kamikaze-chan.
when i say a return to the warrior culture as against to staying with a culture of entertainment, i mean let's all become true warriors in heart and mind and not toadies/yes-men/fence-sitters/fans na mu-angal lang kung dili nila gusto ang mga nangahitabo.
and being a warrior does not mean being a savage, no matter what you think and no matter what you imply kamikaze. far from it.. being a warrior means having a cause worth living and dying for. being a warrior means having principles to live by and standing up to the forces who try to make you compromise on these principles.

in fact, being a warrior is not limited to being a good physical fighter.. it is not even a requirement. being a warrior means having a warrior's mind-set.. it means serving a cause that is greater than you( sa pilosopiya pa : a Thou greater than your I).. it means self-sacrifice for the long-term goal (which you may not even enjoy or see).. it means dedicating your life to a cause which is not for you alone. that's the warrior culture.
and that's what's lacking in the philippines, kay ija-ija ra ta kaayo. kay kitid ra usahay ang atong pangutok.

and the easiest way to propagate this warrior culture sa Pinas is through pride in our own martial culture, pinaagi sa atong FMA, which is something to be proud of anyway.. kaso lang, dili man gina-promote sa atong gobyerno. may pa ang mga foreign arts kay gina-organize pa kaayo, gina-promote gyud.. daghan gud ma-inlab sa langyaw na mga art nga wala gyuy nabal-an sa FMA, kataw-an pa gani nila ug huna-hunaong inferior - dili lang sa style ug technique, labi na sa kultura. so that is why mo-singgit gyud ko: i-balik ang kulturang mandirigma sa Pinas :!:

Philippine History from the FMA Warrior’s Perspective (1960-1969).

    1960 –

Romeo Mamar founded the art of tapado, which utilizes a forty-three inch staff held at one end with both hands. The art has only two movements in its repertoire, and they are simultaneous blocks and strikes. Mamar founded this art in Taloc, Bago City, after becoming disheartened with the limitations of the lagas, sinamak, layaw, and uhido styles he has learned.

    1961 –

30 Dec : Disosdado Macapagal becomes the 9th President of the Philippines. He served his term until 30 December 1965.

    1962 –

Archaeological findings of Homo sapien, or modern man at Tabon cave in Lipuun Point, Palawan, Philippines. Carbon-dated at approximately 22,000 BC, the remnants of the Tabon cave dweller have been associated with the species known as Austroloid.

    1963 –

The AFP recruited its first women soldiers.

The Samahan sa Arnis ng Pilipinas sponsored the First National Arnis Festival, which was the first occasion that the Filipino martial arts were televised for all to see.

    1964 –

    1965 –

30 Dec : Ferdinand E. Marcos becomes the 10th President of the Philippines. He was President until 1986.

    1966 –

Florencio Roque founded the Tornado Garote Self-Defense Club to promote Tatay Ensong’s bahad style, which Roque had studied in the 1930s.

Magdaleno Nolasco founded the Black Cat Judo Club.

Angel Cabales with the assistance of Max Sarmiento and Dentoy Revillar, opened the first “commercial” eskrima academy in the United States in Stockton, California.

    1967 –

    1968 –

Bakbakan International was founded in Manila as a brotherhood for martial artists in the Philippines.

    1969 –

President Ferdinand Marcos was re-elected to his second term.

25 Dec: Former members of the People’s Liberation Army founded the New People’s Army (NPA), the Maoist-oriented military arm of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

Under the encouragement of Colonel Arsenio de Borja, then director and secretary-treasurer of the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation, arnis was offered as part of the curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts degree in the physical education program at Manila’s National College of Physical Education.

pauwiks!! finally! i'm able to post here.. i posted once in a thread here somewhere but got too busy to post in your thread. >lame excuse<

anyway.. finally it got interesting here.. what with that guy el barako(you know this guy pauwiks?) ranting and raving and kamikaze and his apparent student tenchu reacting. what fun!

kudos to lone wolf!! finally, somebody who IS trying to interest people in history. OUR history. calling el barako!! -- here's someone who is definitely NOT a fence-sitter who yaks and yaks but does not actually contribute ( i hate these people too, they're just part of the problem).

el barako, easy on the sarcasm man.. though i agree with most of what you say.

    MK! Kali!!!

p.s. Lone Wolf can we add to your list? and how do we do it? do we message you privately? (i dont want to clutter the thread by adding my own contributions - might as well you do it , edit in the contributions and acknowldge the contributor somehow... are you game?)
