Being on top is not a guarantee. I can see at least 6 teams capable of winning the title. It could be a disadvantage for Purefoods and Sta. Lucia.

Sta. Lucia is doing quite impressively as of late.. it's huge that their role players are stepping up when it counts. Nelbert Omolon is well on his way to becoming one of the better wingmen in the league, now that he has shown that he is more than just hard-nosed defense. Also, the veteran big men are joining the fray, which was not really expected from them when the season started.

Initially, all the focus was on Kelly Williams and hyped rookie Ryan Reyes on how they carry the cudgels for the team. But as far as it shows, lately it has been a solid team effort.

Joseph Yeo turns out to be a good addition to the team because he is an offensive threat at any given time..so it frees up other offensive options. Not only that, "The Ninja" can also clamp down scorers of opposing teams with his pesky (ninja) defense..

All that being said, I am placing my bet on the Realtors in this conference.. anybody can feel their hunger for a title.

Sta. Lucia went on a winning rampage only in the 2nd half of the elims, and it was all bcoz of the vastly improve plays of rookie Ryan Reyes. Sta. Lucia is tough when Reyes is on a roll.
But the semifinal round is a different ball game. This is where the toughest survives, where men are separated from the boys. I predict Alaska and Magnolia to join Purefoods and Sta. Lucia for the final four semis. Experience will be Sta. Lucia's biggest disadvantage and it will be revealed during the semis. It'll be the culprit of their downfall this conference. But Sta. Lucia will learn from this and will earn the respect that they deserve.
I'm rooting for Magnolia but it's highly likely Purefoods will win the crown against Magnolia in the championships.

I still have doubts with Purefoods and Sta. Lucia. They were streaky and hot in the eliminations but I don't see them as the top powerhouses in the playoffs. Alaska is definitely a team to beat and Ginebra and Air21 could make some noise too, especially if Gary David will regain his old form.

I really do hope that Magnolia could gather themselves together, their inconsistency is killing them and I hope that Siot Tanquincen will no longer do some experiments in the playoffs. Stick with the old reliables.
