Yes! This is a recording studio as well. Aural Minds began as a studio project in Manila last year by myself originally. Then was awesomely joined immediately by guitarist and composer Jovanni Kalinga (Fly Machine) and Nathan Azarcon (Bamboo). I initially began as the drummer of Love Bigots Love and ELEKTRIKOOLAID. But when I was younger I started playing percussions then soon after the drums with the Watercolors, who later became known as the Neocolors after a year of gigging I then went to L.A. with my mom, which is where i got to record and use a mixing console for the first time with DTA Records. I helped compose and assisted in the mixing room, performed as a rapper and helped produced a few new Hip Hop artist at the time. After six odd years I returned to the P.I. and was introduced to my first band that played all original music. We where known as “Love Bigots Love” with (Malek Lopez currently of CRIB, Jenny Diaz and Hank Palenzuela from Color It Red) and performed regularly at Club Dredd, Mayrics, Hobbit House, Bistro 70's, Kalye, Music Museum in Green Hills and at the Freedom bar cafe. We where also picked up by the San Miguel corp. and performed regularly in their events (San Mig Summer Music Festivals in Baguio, Mindoro and La Union for 2 years straight, we were also requested by the GREEN PEACE organization to compose a song for their compilation album and to perform live on their boat the Rainbow Warrior for their special parties. My band Love Bigots love quickly gained popularity amongst and with in fellow musicians/bands like The Breed, The dawn, Poppy Fields, Tame The Tikbalang, Feet Like Fins, Color It Red, Tribal Fish, Indio-i, Wolfgang, Francis Magalona, Pepe Smith, Razorback, Kulay (Rhada is my first cousin) the Eraser Heads, Teeth, Spy and River Maya etc... we even had the opportunity to perform countless times for NU107 events and at the NU Rock Awards. Needles to say i have worked (sessioned), hung out, jammed and colaborated with with almost all these musicians and even became good friends with most of them even up to now.
After Love Bigots Love i started a few project bands with several musicians from the other bands in the scene and accidentally conceptualized P.O.T. with Karl Roy (Vocal Advent Call) and Mally Paraguya (Bass, Tame the Tikbalang) and my 6th grade class mate Ian Umali (Guitar, P.O.T.) Because music is my biggest passion in life i began organizing the weekly open jam nights at the Verve room in Malate where i would invite all the musicians that i knew to come and join the endless impromtu jams with me and Nathan Azarcon (who i chose to be my house bass player) in return for free beers if they played. My philosophy has always been to be open with all types and genres of music, so i loved to jam (write songs together) and record with different musicians all the time. Then i formed the band ELEKTRIKOOLAID with Diego Garrido (www.soundboxnyc.com & www.auralstimuli.com) a kick ass bass player & engineer from N.Y. who later became the guitar player of the band. When we started Diego, Myself and Hank all worked as sound engineers at HIT productions in Makati doing mostly post prod work for MacCaan Ericson and other advertising agencies. Audio prod for commercials, Voice over dubbing etc. We recorded, engineered, mixed, produced and mastered our first CD ourselves. As the band manager i was able to convince Warner Music to sign us after providing them with a copy of our CD. The same CD (the album called TASTE) that gained numerous nominations for best rock recording for the song "Bahala Ka sa Buhay mo" and the best alternative recording for our song "Ratdog Fish" at the Await Awards.
Following the bands early demise due to forces beyond our control (ie., lead vocals Anabel became pregnant) Diego went back to N.Y. and i, again started forming project bands. The first project band after ELEKTRIKOOLAID was with Nathan Azarcon, Jet Melencio (Vocalist of Poppy Fields) Anjones (guitar, Kapatid) and Chico Molina (Guitar, Kapatid), which soon after turned into the band KAPATID. By that time Nathan had called Bamboo and discussed for him to return to the P.I., we all met for our first jam at my town house in BF where we jammed out most everyday. But due financial reasons i decided to leave the P.I. and started working overseas. It didn’t take long for me to realize that i could not live with out music so i began playing again. First in Bali, Indonesia with a local show band that played at the Hard Rock cafe, soon after i moved to Thailand where i became a radio host/DJ and started my quest to form a new band (original music only of course). Then i met Richie Castro (vocal & Guitar) and Paul Cooper (Bass) two Americans looking for the same thing as I in music and so we formed SWEETWATER made an album and toured around Thailand. While with the band guitar player & Lonely Planet writer Joe Cummings (www.joecummings.com), invited me to form a band with him which we called the Tonic Rays (www.thetonicrays.com) soon after more musician friends wanted to play other music and create other sounds so i was soon initiated into the jazz quintet called the New City Gurus. By then i was playing a lot and became quite familiar with the Thai music scene. Before i knew it, i was getting calls to session for tours and recording. This quickly became the best musical experience for me. Over the last 3 years i have toured, performed & recorded with local Thai bands JOB TO DO, CARABAO and Thai guitar hero Tuk. Then came the arrival of international artists Mason Ruffner (www.masonruffner.com) who is the guitarist of the legendary Bob Dylan himself. Moira Moynihan a female vocalist and (Daughter of U.S. Senator Moynihan), then came Sally Taylor (daughter of James Taylor) and Mitch Woods of the Rocket 88’s and piano extraordinaire (www.mitchwoods.com) I also have been honored by the company of Record Label CEO and producer Rob Gordon (www.whatarerecords.com) who traveled and jammed with us in Pai, Thailand following The Tonic rays every gig. Rob G. was responsible for producing the Red Hot Chilli Peppers album "Mothers Milk".
After almost 6 years away from the Philippines i came back last August 2007 to give birth to Aural Minds Concept & Design Studios. And with out hesitation i immediately contacted Nathan of course for some jams and to discuss a business venture. Now my partners (Nathan Azarcon, Mark Badiola, Jonathan Ilagan and Jovanni Kalinga) and i are all musicians and have extensive knowledge & experience with music and the industry, and all are more than capable of writing and composing lyrics & music as well as producing for other artists. We have also been blessed to have in our arsenal a huge range of vocal/voice talents at our disposal. The likes of Rico B., Anton Saldana (vocal Cosmic Love), Lian (vocal Cosmic Love), Anabel Bosch (vocal ANALOG) and asia's Queen of jazz Ms. Jacqui Magno and an array of musical talents available for session recording. Ex. Cowboy, is one of the most gifted blues and rock guitarists in the P.I. (guitar, son of Sampaguita), Sammy Assuncion a living musical legend and guitar genius (composer, guitar GOD, SPY, PINIKPIKAN) Bong "SAKTO" Gonzales most sought after session musicians (bass), Epy Q. the comedic and truly talented actors of our generation (voice talent), Fritz “ Dr, Sticks” Barth a mad professor in beats and rhythm (percussions, drums, SPY, PINIKPIKAN), Sheldon one of the youngest musicians worthy of jammimg with (bass, HALE), and more. Unfortunately it is taking quite some time for our website to get finished, where I hoped our clients could get a taste and a glimpse our work. But in the meantime i have posted a few demos and a couple of OST's made for a couple of clients websites on www.reverbnation.com
I work with an iMac and a MacBook at the studio and I use Logic 8 running on Protools LE 7.1. A 12 track analog Yamaha EMX-3500 mixing console, a SONOR 5 piece drum kit Fender Guitar Amps and more importantly a quaint and intimate live recording room and audio control room which are both sonically tested and sound proofed to capture sound in it’s most honest form. An environment ideal for creating a masterpiece. Now, as you are probably well aware even the most expensive and most high tech pieces of equipment and machinery cannot and will not give you great results. But my eyes and ears WILL!

Why don't you just record using your personal computer...there are a lot of really nice recording software out there.....a firewire interface to plug your instrument....and if you have a problem with drums...use drum loops. I use drum loops in my recording. Example... I use Cakewalk as my recording software....a TaSCAM US-224 as my USB interface...I usually mic my amp using a Shure SM57 mic. If you need keyboards...go midi. Let me know if you are interested in this type of direction.
