Many people still insist that the motorcycle is very dangerous. But according to page 9 of the Metro Manila Accident Reporting System produced by the MMDA for 2009:

Motorcycle fatalities are 29.46% of the total vehicles involved in accidents in Metro Manila. Cars appear to be safer with fewer fatalities at 21.62%

Quoting Jake of MCP (post #7 2005 Statistics - Motorcycle Philippines - The #1 Motoring Enthusiast Community in the Country )

A curious thing is that the 4 wheel vehicles are separated, when they all have the same size, licensing restrictions and operating functions.

    If you add it all up the like categories 21.62(Cars) + 1.62(Taxis) + 8.65(Vans) = 31.89%

The 4 wheelers (not including the jeepneys) have the majority share of road incidents.

2nd curious fact - Cars have over 55,000 damage to property reports, making their vehicle segment grossly overrepresented. Considering the motorcycles are the majority of the registered vehicles as stated by the LTO.

3rd curious fact - It is accepted that motorcycle riders are part of the vulnerable road users and cars are considered much safer, since it encloses the driver and passengers in a steel protective shell.

On it's own, without the other 4 wheel reports, why does the car segment have a very high fatality record, when it is supposed to be safer?

Does this mean that car drivers have a different attitude to road safety than perceived?
