when everything else have been said. This will still sell like pancakes knowing how many people are cult members of the i{insertproducthere}. People must realize that this is targeted to a niche market. If you don't like it, then don't buy it.

Personally if i want mobility + performance and other features, I would go with the Dell XPS M1330. M1330 is thicker by half inch -- thinner if you choose the LED backlit screen. All other features better than Mac Air. Lots of interfaces including HDMI -- great for business presentations with HDTVs -- better with the coming wireless HDMI product.

This had the same reaction when the first imac was introduced: "what the hell? no floppy? this imac thing will never succeed. usb? its not a proper input".
give it time people for us to understand its place in tech.

Hm... Let's face it. In order to have extreme mobility such as what the macbook air offers, some features have to be sacrificed. It stands up to be what it is. A mobile computer. A notebook.

What's impressive here is how the Apple managed to get Intel design a processor exclusively for this Mac. A total footprint reduction of 60%? Wow. Now, this mac may not be the most powerful laptop in the world. But let's face it, it is the thinnest, lightest, and most portable in its field(Correct me if I'm wrong). And, it's power is not something to laugh at. A 1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo (up to 1.8GHz), 2GB DDR2 RAM, an optional solid-state HDD? Come on, it may not be the top of the line, but it could still slice through mainstream apps like a hot knife through butter.

Again, it would still serve its purpose, not an Ultra-high-end laptop, not a gaming laptop, but an Ultrathin and Ultraportable laptop.

What if your going out on a business trip by yourself and need to access some data in a DVD or CD.
How can you access these information will have to go maybe on an internet cafe and borrow some wifi capable PC and install the drivers in it before you can access the info inside the CD.

Or you can bring another wifi capable laptop just for the purpose of being able to access the CD from this macbook air.
WHat if you wanna watch a dvd movie and you are in a hotel and you only have this macbook air with you. Maybe knock the door on some other people to borrow their wifi capable laptop that has an optical drive install the drivers and watch the DVD movie from your neighbors laptop? and hope the wifi signal reaches your macbook air. I personally don't bring around DVDs with me on any business trip, but hey, that's just me, it is called business right?

Hay.. maybe apple is feeling to confident with their marketing prowess, that they even can sell stupid things make it look very cool.
    hehehe.
    and
Is this a laptop or an oversized palm.
Again, why do people complain about this laptop for what they think it can't do for them when people should be asking what it can do for them. I'd rather have the laptop stay this small without all the addons than to add to the size. An optical drives not only adds to it's size but sucks power like a fat kid with candy, nevermind the fact that if you use this for the purpose of watching DVDs, you need to be slapped. You want multimedia? ... you buy another laptop, plain and simple.

Why not? If I have the money to burn, I'll get myself a Macbook Air.

Even if I was a Mac fanatic, I really wouldn't consider a Macbook air. A regular Macbook should do you good.

    http://www.dailytech.com/Apples+MacB...ticle10596.htm

    - Lack of a user replaceable battery (no. 1 issue that can throw off anyone)
    - only one USB port
    - no ethernet port
    - no optical drive (apple would be glad to offer you a superdrive for $ 99)
    - may need a third party adapter for your headphones
    - the installation media shipped will only work with the air, and on no other Mac

MBA would have been better if it were at a cheaper price 'coz its obviously a notebook geared towards people who have a desktop or even another laptop as their primary machine (Imagine having a 2ndary or back-up laptop at this price). I would gladly buy this sexy thing if it were alot cheaper. ^_^

Nganong daghan mang ni reklamo bahin sa drawbacks sa kini nga notebook? Apple pulled this out aiming towards a specific market. Dili raman sab nga kini ra ang ilang notebook nga gi himo. Ug gusto mo'g portability nga naa optical drive, etc... naa man sab sila'y MACBOOK nga gi offer. Ug gusto mo ug mas kusgan nga notebook that would somewhat replace your desktop, naa man sab silay MACBOOK PRO.

Gi mention na sa taas ni Wolverines_Claws ug ni VERN ug para unsa gyud ni nga laptop. If kuwang ra ang features sa Macbook Air para nimo, then it's simply not for you.

I was shopping for a laptop a few weeks back. I considered the Macbook Air so checked it out sa Apple Store (My wife has a Macbook Pro and it is a beautiful machine) pero after 5 minutes playing with it, I took it off my list. It's not for me.
