Floyd Mayweather is going to Wrestlemania

    By Marc Abrams

"Pretty Boy" Floyd "Money" Mayweather will participate in Wrestlemania 24 in Orlando, Florida on March 30th.

Mayweather confronted and broke the nose of The Big Show at Sunday's No Way Out Pay-Per-View in Las Vegas.

Mayweather came to the aid of 150 lb Rey Mysterio after the 400 lb Big Show attacked Mysterio. Mayweather then fired off a four punch combination that broke Big Show's nose to set up the confrontation.

At Wrestlemania, Mayweather will team up with Mysterio to take on The Big Show and a mystery partner that is rumored to be Shane McMahon.

When Mayweather gets back to his day job, he is rumored to rematch Oscar De La Hoya on September 20. The first fight between the two broke all pay-per-view numbers.

Mayweather appeared on the popular WWE show, Monday Night Raw which ironically held in Anaheim near De La Hoya's home in Los Angeles and confronted Big Show.

"I love publicity" said Mayweather to an apologetic Big Show, "I been a WWE fan forever, I am sorry but I am the best fighter in the world. When someone calls Floyd Mayweather out i retaliate."

Mayweather then left the ring and The Big called Mayweather out. Mayweather and his entourage, led by manager Leonard Ellerbee came back in the ring and accepted The Big Show's challenge.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Earning 20 Million Dollar Payday in WWE Match
Erik Morales Picks the “Pretty Boy” to Remain Undefeated!

Sometimes we boxing fans can be a little too serious when it comes to viewing our favorite sport of fisticuffs.

While we might bitch and moan about all the issues and controversial incidents that transpire within the sweet science, we also must be able to laugh at the craziness that’s taking place on the fringes of boxing.

Apparently Floyd Mayweather Jr. has hit pay dirt with a 20 million dollar purse as he’ll be tackling the 7 foot tall, 430 pound, Paul “The Big Show” Wight at Wrestlemania XXIV on March 30.

While wrestling is obviously a scripted form of entertainment, it provides boxing and more specifically Mayweather with the opportunity to showcase himself to a demographic that’s severely lacking within our sport.

    Kids.

I don’t see too many booger-nosed youngsters filling the stands in Sin City while wrestling specifically targets this age bracket.

It could get messy and downright ugly at times being that Floyd has never performed in a wrestling ring in order to give himself the time to become familiar with the choreographed cues and methods of madness.

The only advice I might give to the “Pretty Boy” is to get the hell out of the way should “The Big Show” get his hands on a steal chair.

It’s also quite interesting to see the recently retired, Erik “El Terrible” Morales get in on the action as he was recently interviewed by a WWE representative asking him about the match-up.

“El Terrible” stated that Floyd will win the wrestling match based on his speed, strength, technique, and punching power.

As the showdown nears, hopefully more boxers will chime in and make their presence felt as the WWE provides a great outlet and learning opportunity on how our fighters can sell themselves as their wrestling counterparts do.

Boxing and wrestling mixing like oil and water?

No… it’s more like the complimentary pork ribs and barbecue sauce that colleague Ricardo Lois can’t seem to devour enough of…

Unbeaten welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement again Friday, with boxing’s unofficial pound-for-pound king saying he no longer has the passion necessary to fight.

Mayweather, an Olympic bronze medalist who has won belts in five weight classes, made the abrupt announcement in a letter to select media members Friday. The 31-year-old WBC welterweight champ (39-0, 25 KOs) hasn’t fought since beating Ricky Hatton last December, but was widely expected to take on Oscar De La Hoya in September in a rematch of the richest fight in boxing history.

he doesnt deserve the number one pound for pound rating.

his last 10 fights were against dela hoya (too old), Carlos Baldomir (too old), Shamba mitchell (unknown), arturo gatti (too old), henry brusells (unknown), Demarcus Corley (unkown), Philip Ndou (unknown), Victoriano sosa (unknown) only Ricky hatton and zab judah ang difficult opponents.

he also fought jose luis castillo and diego coralles, they are the only top fighters he fought.

he ducked miguel cotto, antonio margarito and ricardo torres fighters that can beat him

What a waste of talent. Sa iyang ka maau, mao ra to? ni retire na dayun? He could have been a great fighter. In my book, he's just a good fighter because he didn't fight real fights.. he refused to fight anyone who has a remote chance of beating him..
