That info was from PAG-ASA Mactan. It became a storm when it hit Cebu. The initial forecast was a tropical depression, thus, it's not that alarming.

Mao gani, because the forecast was a tropical depression, and not a storm.
55 and 64 has a small difference to be taken for granted...Originally Posted by yokam
please read the data right...55kph winds sa surigao pa, so tropical depression pa toh...kng nikusug gmay, like 65kph, storm pa na....get it? i read from pagasa public website forecast last monday: "moderate to strong coastal winds"...and on the radio about "lando"...so murag wa cla ngkuwang...at least w/ their current technology...
so far almost tanan typhoon na develop na daan sa dagat pa lang. not unlike this one nga nikalit from low pressure, then tropical depression, then to storm (almost typhoon at 100kph) "on land". nya within a matter of a few hours lng. panagsa ra kau ni mahitabo...
may nlng gani ky way da nga tornado or buhawi...also, when winds hits land, it would also change direction, increase or decrease speed depending on the terrain...it applies to all parts of the world...
so forecasts like these cannot be taken for granted on ourselves...pagasa only gives u the warning...not the preparation...saun uban nato lax ra kau mentality when it comes to things like these...
if pag-asa is that incompetent as an agency and they can't afford to hire the right people and buy the needed equipments, then why won't our government "outsource" weather forecasting to countries who have more competent peope and advance equipment?
they're not incompetent in fairness to them...maybe kulang lng jud update gmay ila technology...Originally Posted by LytSlpr
besides, they don't need to outsource because infos on weather forecasts are all over the internet. taspukan lng ta kau mo tanaw...maybe coz our weather is almost the same year round and maconcerned lng ta kng naa nay bagyo padung...
look! people in the U.S. mtanaw sa ila weather forecast everyday before going outside their homes...
i know they are not but as an AGENCY they are but unfortunately in cases like these, people do not distinguish the people from the equipment anymore but look at them as an agency in general thus making it encompassing.Originally Posted by giddyboy

how to prepare without a warning? am talking about to what extent.Originally Posted by giddyboy
as what I have observe sa PAG-ASA cebu is that if signal #2 wa jud nay hangin or ulan, but if walay storm signal or ubos lang, pirte kakusog nuon... dili kaha binali ni ilaha?
naay warning gani...unsa man diay nang low pressure or tropical depression warning? we all know nga it could develop into a storm or typhoon...kanang signal#1 or 2, dats not even enough warning for some of us to think of preparing...Originally Posted by junmar4
to what extent? common sense...hiposon ang billboards, trapals, hanging plants, hinayhay, be wary of riding the boat, flight scheds, etc...
saun payong ra man atong usual andamon. LOL
