for an exporter to penetrate a new market, takes time. finding reliable people and seting up new networks.
The US has the biggest market in the world. maybe china but its another ballgame in china. they are unfar to foreign traders. very protectionist.
The us is one of the best market in the world and a country that likes to trade.

    OT:
correct ka bay! that is i think one of the big reasons why pgma brought 100+ people w/ her during the Europe visit hoping to penetrate more markets there and not only depend on US markets.

u will also observe that exporters like furnitures & handicrafts are now focusing on europe markets nowadays to offset low US market demand...

i also included "inflation" in this topic. did u know that ur money's interest rates in the bank as savings or time deposits cannot overtake the yearly inflation rate? alkanse ra gihapon.
bank interest rates hover from around 1-2% per annum while ang inflation is around 5%...

Sending remittances by workers abroad is mandatory under the Labor Code. The OFWs or Filipino workers (worker means any member of the labor force whether employed or unemployed) abroad are required to give a portion of their earnings to their families here in the Philippines. The amount they want to give is up to their own decision. So we cannot say that the remittances are burdens to our OFWs. They do not pay income taxes here. They also have to help their families left in the Philippines.

The problem with OFW dependents is that they do not know how to spend the remittances wisely. Some OFW dependents are what we call one-day-millionaires. The government has devised a plan to educate OFW families on how to spend their remittances wisely. Some have already invested in real properties. Others have engaged in businesses. But majority still do not know how to save. It still depends on them how they would stretch that budget.

kung plano nako mag OFW forever, then makalagot dyud ning pagsaka sa piso, but since my plan is to stay for a number of years lang then balik sa sugbo for good in the future, then, malipay ko nga magkasaka ang piso....opinyon nako ni...

it would be better for OFWs & their families to re-think how they spend their money nowadays to the fact that the exchange rate is already breaching the 41 mark.
They should not think of liability spending but also asset spending...

    Liability spending:
    personal house & lot
    home appliances
    fancy cars
    fine jewelry
    audio & video stuffs
    expensive clothing
    fancy restaurants & hotels
fancy home accessories & personal effects
    luxurious travel & liesure

    Asset spending:
    real estate properties
    education funds
    pension funds
    mutual funds
    money market business
    corporate & partnership business
    self-employing business
    ...other feasible businesses
