You have the option to remove the flip if you feel it will be a hindrance to you. The kit comes with a special screwdriver so that you can remove the flip. What will you lose without the flip? The numeric keypad of course, but if you like to txt message a lot, the QWERTY will do the trick naman. BTW, the flip has a magnet inside it, so you can actually force the unit into keypad mode (even if you removed the keypad) by just moving a small magnet close to the QWERTY. And most of all your negative comments about the phone disappears provided that:
a) you replace the battery to BST-34
b) you do the upgrade

I wouldn't be surprised if you work for SE hehehe. This is exactly what the rep said when I called SE Cebu...they said the P990i is old and buggy, and that I should go for the P1i...clap clap clap galing ng marketing...
...hey wait I'm not trying to convince you guys to buy the P990i instead of the P1i--if you have the money, by all means go ahead.
