The SAFEST way to this is not to use any illegal tools/softwares or whatsoever. You may say web proxy? hmmm..still dangerous..hahah
i suggest you to use Google's online translation or those other available, it can serve as your proxy. enjoy surfing, hope u won't be kick out!

Tamblot is right.... if the network security is well implemented I don't think you can get around with it. Worst is you can be traced that your trying to bypass their firewall and it's a serious security breach....

Plug a usb wireless and scan for any access point in nearby buildings. With wireless, your IT doesn't have any logs on you.
I access internet on wireless and has permanently bridge an open access point nearby.
For starters: use netstumbler.

you suggestion mixmuzix makes me sick. sorry for my opinion but with your suggestion, you are putting the whole network at risk.
better if you are not connected to both networks simultaneously.
I believe doing this is a mortal sin to the IT Dept. Just beware that you wont be caught or else expect the unexpected.
