Eh, sounds like victim blaming to me, akin to, "Kung ganahan ka dili i-rape? Nganung mubo man sad kag sayal?"
iCloud and Photostream are switched on by default, and compared to cloud services like Google Drive and Dropbox, the settings are wonky and unintuitive. The average person probably doesn't even understand how iCloud works, or that it automatically backs up data without their knowing.
As a user, it is your responsibility to know well the applications you used, downloaded and how it works. Some settings are switched on by default because those are options left as users preference whether they decide to stay it as is or want to switch it off.
Now, if we are talking about accountability of this leak, the blame goes to Apple. Of course, it is their application and security should be their main responsibility. But it does not take into consideration that users should be lax as well and too dependent. Since for some, say famous celebrities, personal details and bit of information are shared in social media and internet. So you blame Apple for this? They know they are celebrities and they are targeted all the time. Leaking of nude photos or videos are not new. Again, you blame Apple for this? No, but you need to take your part if you really want 'privacy'.
In general, trust issue is neither a reason too. In security, you shouldn't trust no one and be paranoid all the time. "What if iCloud will be hacked and my private photos will be leaked?".. This is just one important question that must pop to your mind. The same goes to showbiz people that take s3x videos of themselves.
FYI, the one responsible for this leakage used a very old and simple hack.
Teresa Palmer for me.
and like i always said
Apple's Security also Vulnerable, it is just a matter of time.
so much for the invincible myth.
everything what's stored on the blue nowhere can be accessed or hacked.
everything is just a matter of time..before someone will have the right key or keystro
