Yes, but if you don't know the hows and whys of what you are making you are liable to make nothing as well.
I wouldn't go with a "self-taught" brain surgeon or an "amateur" lawyer if my life depended on it.
that is why lawyers and doctors don't attain the same celebrity status as artists--

True dat. But someone must have taught Rembrandt the rudiments of painting. Someone must have taught Conrad Hall or whoever to read a lightmeter and set the proper exposure. Even if they were self-taught, they had to LEARN the fundamentals of their craft before creating their own identity.
With something as complex and technical as filmmaking, learning is a never ending process. A new format, film emulsion, or piece of camera gear comes along and you again have to learn how to use it to your advantage. Like all people who are seriously dedicated to what it is they do, we are hungry for knowledge. We want to learn more than anything else. Amen.
OT: ah well, you better get back on the main topic of this thread storaroing which is about the IAFTV--

Back on topic, no I don't think the English speaking parts is entirely irrelevant. First of all, the school claims to teach THE METHOD, and although they have this "memory quotient" in their lessons? If the actors perform with awkward intonation then it would defeat Stanislavsky because the performance still comes off as stilted.
Just my 2 cents.
I've seen the shorts on the school's website and there were films in bisaya and tagalog.
As I see it, there are more Filipino personell working in IAFT than Aliens . . . c",)
That has to count for something . . .

He is rich... problema ba na? dili man... I think he is a very hard working man, and it paid off... and i think theres nothing wrong with being rich nor making money in other country... its not becoz caucasian siya, dili siya pwede madatu diri... please... dont be a racist... get to know a person first before judging....

You don't need IAFT!
All you need is a camcorder with a DV terminal and a PC with a Gigabyte chomping drive, those are the 2 basic things you need to get a film done. Coupled with knowledge you can acquire for FREE on the internet. IAFT is bankrupt! ;-b
- hahaha funny... talk about pride.... lahi dyud ang self study kay sa skwelahan. Yup, your DV terminal and PC is all you need to get a film done... But you need more than dat to make a great film, technology speaking of course..... Yup talent is a factor, you may have talent...but there are other talented and much more experience people out there who are sharing thier wisdom in filming...(ofcourse with a price)
mura ra nag nagskwela kag elementary hiskul og college... pangutana gud imo mama...musulti dyud nag "lahi ra dyud ang naka skwela"
Amen Paklay
