    Default Batman Begins

you got a point mdmartian. so far sa tanan bale's best suited for batman. even if there'll be a justice league live action movie (i highly doubt it since it's going to be "very" expensive), a lot of people would like bale to don the batman costume for it.

aljoriz, i think it's understandable why scarecrow's origin wasnt really fully explained as the movie is all about how bruce became batman. the previous batman movies showed the villains' origins because the origin of batman was not considered in the 1st movie.
He's a psychologist and a pawn of Rhaz Al Ghul who used the blue flower thingamagic to create the poison. What more backstory is needed?

mrbiddle, there's more to scarecrow than that. in this movie, he was just made a pawn and that's that.. but the animated series, he is a different character, just like ra's, riddler, joker, penguin , etc. but the story is about how batman came to be. if the movie wasnt about how batman became batman, it would be a different story and would surely show how scarecrow became the scarecrow.

MrBiddle i have observed that the flow of the story in this movie was like start from the middle, go flashback from the start, then move on with the story from there on. now forgive me for being ignorant with the technical side (not really my thing) but whats your comment about this style? i really enjoy that kind of storytelling where the viewer is the one that pieces the story together.

You're NOT ignorant. In fact you're being conscious. This is the temporal relationship from scene to scene. Sometimes, telling a story chronologically can bog things down and when you're dealing with exposition it's all right to go backwards and forwards so long as the pacing will benefit. He also tries to setup the "film noir" texture of the story and juxtapouses his traumatized childhood with his training. Meaning, it isn't entirely a "samurai" movie set in the hills.

And if he did it chronologically that might just be an inappropriate rhythm and if this movie got one yawn during Bruce's training, that won't be a good sign.

Basically the writer is asking for your patience, hence the title they've gotta nail how Batman came to be somehow. I like this style too. For a more mindboggling experience check out MEMENTO also by Christopher Nolan... or the very hard to follow 21 GRAMS

You love Memento? Wow, Eowyn can I take you out or kamo pa ni Faramir
Faramir man to imo noh? Kai wa mo nagkadayon ni Aragorn?

Seriously, for me what creates the most impact in cinema is the juxtapousition of images. This is even present in the later part of the movie. When Batman gets the toxin from Scarecrow we get little bits from his parent's death.

It's not the moving images per se, but the juxtapousition of different kinds of those images that creates the impact.
