Bio:
MASSACRIDIA is an all-female band devoted to making steaming raw speed-thrash metal songs with a tinge of early black and death, and playing covers from old school bands like kreator, metalchurch, testament, nuclear assault and the like.
Jocel, the former frontwoman of the band KRONOS, together with her better half, Benedick, had early thoughts of forming an all-female thrash metal band. After playing bass for the band LYCAN WRATH and after her term as a vocalist in KRONOS, she decided to invite Lauren, one of the lead guitarists of LYCAN WRATH, to play for the all-female band. Lauren was one of the highly recommended female shredder in her circle. It was a difficult period though to look for other female band members, and after all the recommendation seeking from friends, musicians, and in the internet, Jocel and Lauren came across with Caren, the guitarist/frontwoman of the melodic band SANCTUS, as the 2nd lead guitarist for the band. With the help of Gary of the powermetal band LAVOS BECKON, we got in touch with Thea, who used to play bass for Coven13. when she left that band, it was then when Lavos Beckon was created.. We invited her to play bass for the all female band. The first meeting/ jamming day was December 17th of the year 2005. We had trial songs and covers from Slayer (Raining Blood) and from Testament (Confusion Fusion) and we were very surprised with the output…
Early January 2006, we have decided to look for a vocalist. We posted ads in Recto and in Mayric’s España, as well as in the net. It is not easy to look for a vocalist and/or choose among the growlers and the high-pitched singers who were attending try-outs. Until we received a recommendation from Sm, the frontman of the black metal band, ARCHAIC ARGOT. We met Jenni, the bassist of the gothmetal band SEA OF RAINS. After giving her the sample covers, we have agreed to have her as our vocalist. February 2006 to present, the line up is complete. Jocel-drums, Thea-bass, Lauren-lead guitars, Caren-lead guitars and Jenni-vocals. Through the efforts of Benedick, the former vocalist of the progressive metal band Eternal Now, we have come up with the band name, MASSACRIDIA.
