i have an uncle who went to a public elementary school in the middle of nowhere and now he's a hotshot doctor who specializes in eent.
compare that to some kids who went to expensive schools but don't know crap about simple math.
i agree with some of those who said that it takes two to tango. education, paired with good values -- especially those that emphasize the need to have good grades -- will get our kids somewhere.

Actually, the provinces have better public schools that those in the city. I come from Philippine Science High School (which happens to be a public school) and there are a lot of students there who come from provincial public schools. Sa Uni, there are a lot of students who come from public schools who do well.

I think naa man sa sa attitude sa student and the support that he gets from his/her family. The teacher has a central role as well... sadly, bati ang quality sa public school teachers karun (have you seen their board results??). Wala sila drive to teach and daghan sa ila dili mu inspire sa ila students. Teaching style also plays a factor, too many of them are still using the "memorize" system, which doesnt really work that well in the first place.

Singapore Education System just an example...

For Primary 1&2, they have only 3 subjects... they are concentrating more on MATH, ENGLISH and Second Languare...

For Primary 2 to 6, they have only 4 subjects... they're emphasized more on MATH, ENGLISH, SCIENCE and Second Language...

the student should pass the PSLE exam to enter into Secondary level... or else you will go back to primary six (but ur level status is prim 7)...

dli man bad.. im not sure murag above 88 percent sa ato population is educated, n we cant work outside phil if our education is not competitive...
