Yes... you can ask cash as gift. Bisag ako ganahan ko cash ang gift kay you and your partner know best what you need, although we appreciate gifts in kind as well.
The best way to ask is through word of mouth... and let your friends or relatives spread the word. If you are not sure and confident of how to properly put it in your invitation, better not do it or else your invitation will generate mixed reactions or will come out as cheap.
To givers, the amount in cash should at least cover the cost of one meal. If you are bringing 2 more people with you, monetary gift should at least cover the cost of three meals, preferrably with extra.
