My mother made me do the following when we moved in to our new house last year:

- Prior to moving in, we had to have the house blessed by a priest.

- We had to move in on the 28th of that month, nevermind that the 28th fell on a weekday. It was actually very inconvenient for us.

- I had to bring in three items upon first entering the house upon move-in. IIRC, the items were a few cups of rice, a bottle of water and cotton. Each of these item had a purpose but I couldn't for the life of me remember what they are.

- We had to enter the house before sunrise and have breakfast there.

- I had to use my right foot to cross the threshold to enter the house.

- I should be the first one to enter each of the rooms in the house and I should turn on the light in each of the rooms.

- I should throw some coins upon entering.

As I have said, it was a very big inconvenience. And I don't even believe in that stuff. But I did it all anyway, just to make my mother happy.
