First of all, the character they relaunched as gay is NOT the same character Ryan Reynolds played in the movie (that was Hal Jordan). This is Alan Scott they're talking about. In the old DC continuity, he's the original Green Lantern and a member of the Justice Society of America, got his power source from the "Star Heart" and was not a member of the Green Lantern Corps. Before the DC reboot, he had a son (Obsidian) who was also gay.
Besides, it's just one character that they turned gay. He's in Earth-2 (An alternate version of Earth. Their versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman already died in a war against Apokolips). And he's a character you don't even know and care about. Jeez, what's with all the vitriol? Just because one dude turns out to be gay doesn't mean that Supes and Bats will also turn gay. That's like saying you're gonna turn gay as well just because one of your friends came out of the closet.
There are already lots of gay characters out there. There's no need to raise your torches and pitchforks. For people who don't read comics, you sure are a prickly bunch.
